Indigo was a genius. Everything was a variable in an experiment, his was the hand that sat the mice in the labyrinth and sent them on their search for the cheese within. He was brilliant, and, as it happened, he was nice enough not to demand the answers he so clearly wanted to ask Adrien for.
He could see it every time they made eye contact, dancing on the tip of his friend's tongue, always seconds away from coming out. Indigo was a genius, but a also a horrible liar. Adrien hadn't addressed it for a number of reasons. Maybe he wasn't ready. Or maybe he couldn't trust him. Or maybe it proved any doubts any of them ever had about Adrien's place in the competition right. He hadn't been asked her because of his proficiency in mechanics any more than Coralie had been asked here for her natural humble disposition. He was an illegitimate legacy. And Indigo, for what it was worth, had always treated him like he had a reason to be here.
Adrien sat in his room, mindlessly tapping his pencil against the surface of his desk, staring at a blank sheet of paper. Indigo was safe from elimination. Poppy too. He didn't have to worry about either of them being voted out, but he did have to face the reality that he still could've been packing his bags that night. He didn't need to choose people he thought needed to go home. He needed to choose people he thought the others might choose, just to lessen his own chances of being sent away. The issue was that Adrien was not a genius. And outside of a few, he wasn't sure how the others thought.
He needed perspective, so he found himself headed toward the library to meet Indigo. He'd know what to do from an objective point of view: he always did.
He took a seat across from the boy, haphazardly tossing the piece of paper and his pencil onto the table as he took his seat.
"Help," he said in a low voice. After a moment, he quick and quite cheeky smile, gone in an instant.
"Please."
