The twelve of them were a disparate group, one with as many differences as they had similarities. In theory, the twelve of them would never get along entirely. But his encounter with Whitney had given him an idea. Perhaps there was a happy medium between approaching the competition clinically and actually keeping long-lasting friends.
Indigo wouldn’t have called himself an optimist, but Whitney’s passion for life and for people was infectious in an odd way. And what brought people together more than drinks and music? He hoped the music was tolerable. He hadn’t found a whole lot in the ways of club music lying around, just a record player and some smooth jazz to go along with it.
In any case, he’d asked everyone to meet him in the bar at the same time. It was late, but not yet close to midnight. He was hopeful that a few of them would be curious enough to see what he wanted. Eventually, people started to filter in and Indigo waved, tossing away the cloth he’d been using to shine the counter and grabbed a bottle of champagne.
“Mr. Nox has already sent the staff home for the night, so it looks like I’m on duty.” He said with a tired grin.
“Tomorrow, our host sends one, possibly three people home.” He waved to the row of bottles. “But tonight, we should dance and drink.” He held up the bottle of champagne and popped the top dramatically, the top of the geyser speckling the ceiling.
“As the saying goes, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” Indigo set the champagne down and picked up a bag of ice, setting in on the counter. “We should relax! Any requests? I’ve been reading a book on drink-mixing and I think I might have a few of them down…”
