I was caught in a circle.

One that lead nowhere and somewhere all at the same time.

My life was like the fairytales that mother told me when I was young. They all were the same, the prince always saved the princess. Each a repeat of the last.

Except mine didn't have a happy ending.

Days were spent in the shop finding plants and mixing medicines. Nights were spent taking care of my siblings.

A fork in the road never to be found, just the same old beaten path.

When mother would catch me with my nose in my journal, sketching the new flowers that I'd found that day, she would find an excuse for me to get away. Just another mindless chore that needed to be done, just another day to waste away.

Sometimes I think about the stories, if the princesses were truly happy.

And wonder if my happy ending will ever come.
