GLINT godwin
FEMALE - 24 - DISTRICT 1 - TRAINER
HELLO, PRINCESS.
You look at Glint and you see your standard District One citizen. Bright blonde hair and dazzling blue eyes. She's not the tallest, but she makes up for it with her strength and grit. She's fast and agile and in great shape, just like she was as a teenager. She still has a scar from her nasty broken leg injury back when she was eighteen. The other noticeable thing about her though is her stone-faced stare.
Glint also follows the stereotype of her district by making sure she always looks good. When not working out, she dresses simply but elegant, preferring mostly all dark colors with gold accents. She needs to be taken seriously by her students and wants to instill that element of fear in them early on. While she knows appearance isn't the more important thing, she doesn't mind getting clammed up for the right occasion.
YOU CAN DO SO MUCH BETTER.
Glint's a hard worker. She's got a great work ethic that never stops. You'll always find her doing something to make herself better, to the point where it is almost an obsession. She still wants to be successful in any way that she can and not let her talents go to waste.
While Glint's fierce attitude may come off aggressive, she's doing it for good reason. She's passionate about training others so they don't fail like she did. She's strict but caring to those she meets, wanting to get to know everyone better so she can help them. She comes off harsh at first, but it's all tough love. She's very serious about what she does and wants to make sure everyone reaches their full potential.
Once you get to know Glint, especially outside of the training facility, she's much more calm. The sharpness is still there of course, as she's quick with her words and thoughts. She always wears a smirk on her face, wanting make sure that you get a good first impression of her.
DOWN THE DRAIN.
Glint come from a line of well-known families in One, leading her to grow up knowing she had a lot of expectations. But while many of them took the route of taking up jobs that were guaranteed success, Glint went a different route. She choose to become a career tribute. Her parents didn't mind, after all, they knew she had the right attitude, and a win from her would only add to their family's reputation.
The idea came during a victory tour, when young Glint had the opportunity to meet the victor. They weren't from One, but she still carried the elegance and ferocity that victors are portrayed to have, and it inspired Glint. She wanted to be like them, famous and love by all of Panem. Victors were the stars of the country and the best of the best. Nothing could be better than that.
Glint spent all of her waking hours training and getting as good as possible. As cliché as it seems, she was the first one in and last one out. She sacrificed personal time to make sure she was ready physically and mentally. Over the years, Glint got faster, stronger, and tougher, and was a top prospect to volunteer when she turned eighteen.
Until just a few weeks before the games when she broke her leg in training. It happened so fast, one minute she was up practicing her climbing skills and the next second she was on the ground in pain. Of course Glint was devastated. All of her hard work was gone in an instant. And to rub salt the wound, her biggest rival was now one of the next choices to take her place.
Glint didn't know what to do with herself. She had no purpose now, since she knew nothing but her life as a career. It was just an accident that Glint had no control over, yet she constantly blamed herself and believed she was a failure.
But her recovery process gave her time to think. Slowly she realized that while she could not help herself anymore, she could still help others. All the kids in training could see her as an example of motivation, to show them how quickly things can change and how lucky they are to be even able to train for the games. So she decided to go back to the training center to help with future tributes.
It was very difficult for her at first. She had spent so much of her life in that building, and every day she'd walk past the area where everything had ended for her. But Glint pushed through soon found a comfortable rhythm in teaching, even if her technique was sometimes too harsh.
Of course every time a kid from One becomes a star in the Capitol's eyes, Glint can't help but wonder what it feels like to be in their shoes. She wants to go down in history with the crowd chanting her name. Then the kid fails and she's thrown back to her days training in the academy thinking about what she could have done in that situation, and how she'll then teach the next batch of kids to do better.
