There's tears, all around her the world is weeping. Families fold into each other as blessings litter their lips. The world is weeping, yet it is not out of sorrow but out of relief. All the meanwhile she is stagnant, a statue stunned to the silence of her spot with eyes still staring at an empty stage. A hand holds a growing belly, but there is no warmth within the womb. There is only cold, the cold of fear.
It is impossible to withstand.
The heels beneath the souls of her mouse-like feet slap against the slick surface of the cobblestone streets. Watchers wilt away into their homes and while they wither, Mycelium walks up steps of sleet stone. A wall of white guards the gates to the Capitol's newest jewels, but a familiar face stands within the squad. He's a regular of her services, maybe even the father of the child churning within her. She needs not speak a single word for he orders the others to let her pass with a long following gaze. Who knows, maybe he will be the first tool in her soon to come game of distraction.
The meticulous process for Mycelium to simply see her sister seems to toil on for eternity. People pass as though time for them moves faster than lightning streaking through the sky. For her it's slower, every second is a century and every minute a millennium. She doesn't cry, but in this moment she feels like screaming, cursing, anything to stop what will happen when she finally walks through that wooden door. To stop her from having to say goodbye.
Mycelium finally is given clearance and there she is, hair red as her own and face as lost in thought as Mycelium could imagine. Most visitors would go straight for a hug, but Mycelium knows they aren't like that. They've lived on the streets, made love for money, and watched the world do nothing for them other than spin. She doesn't go to hug her sister, instead she crosses her arms and leans against the closed door.
"Well this is a fucking mess. You better start screwing the right people to stay alive."
Sarcasm, it's typical and it doesn't feel like forever.
