She doesn’t do what others are doing, because clearly she cant be bothered. From the small amounts of conversation that had been passing through the corridor, she could tell that something foul was afoot, which made her worry. However, Amrin knew that if she did anything brash, she would be met with suspicion, and since she did not do anything wrong. She didn’t know what to expect anymore, some people were whispering that it was an inside job, and some people had been claiming that he had offed himself. Whatever happened, Amrin had no interest in trying to figure it out, for now. She was good at sleuthing, but that would have to wait, because the rumble in her stomach had become more apparent, and since it was her birthday, she was going to at least enjoy her birthday cake.
After all, she now needed to cover her bases unless she become one of the prime suspects.
She sighed as she moved back from the scene and into the kitchen, where her cake had already been sitting, waiting for her to light the candles and blow out. She had placed them right before the commotion had started, and because she had to make sure that she had her journal on her, she didn’t even get a chance to light them. That was fine, at this point, she was fine just celebrating by herself.
After all, it wasn’t like she really had any friends here.
At least, that is what she thought as she moved towards the cake, trying to ignore the sounds of people screaming and hollering as their feet made loud noises against the wooden floor. Amrin wasn’t sure who had done the deed, and clearly, no one else did either. It was a cleaver plan, one that Amrin had to commend. Killing him in the middle of the night mustve not been an easy task. However, she didn’t have time to sit there and think about how it happened, she didn’t care to be quite honest.
She had the next day to do so, and today was going to be just about her, even just for a couple hours.
And so she lit the candles on her cake and began a light tune. ”Happy Birthday to you…” she continued, feeling the energy in the room double, sure that people were about to walk in at any moment.
At least she wouldn’t be alone for her pity party.
