Mom,

I'm not sure I like only having Dad in the house. He is always too caught up in being strict. He says it is for our own good, but I know that if you were here, you'd at least let me scrape the green vegetables into the trash. He made me eat every pea. Even one that fell on the floor.

When you come home, Dad says we're having a fine dinner but I want permission from you to not eat the peas. I'll make sure I do my chores before you come home and I'll even keep grandma company for the evening. I'm not sure how I'll cope with her constant repetition and rambles about cats, but I don't think I can suffer any more peas.

I miss you a lot.
