The night grows long as the temperatures sink lower and lower. It's not enough to freeze someone to death, but it's enough to offer some relief from the broken pipes the day before. Beads of sweat continue rolling from her brow, and Oblivion fights trying to remove her plastered hair from the side of her face, yet it's more complicated than one would ever imagine.
Fashion isn't her strong suit in life, but it's annoying as he hair keeps slipping into her mouth. Not the best look for an eighteen year old.
The steam slowly vanishes, and looking around becomes more and more amusing. It takes a lot to figure out what this place once was, and sometimes the idea of others once living here crosses her mind, but Oblivion isn't sure if that's true or not. It's easier to do things now that robots aren't trying to run them over for standing in their way, yet it continues raising her hairs like something is wrong.
The lights on the watch flick to life as the anthem plays, but no faces appear. In a way it offers a sense of relief, yet she knows twenty others have to die including the three fighting by her side if she wants to live.
Not seeing any dead increases her respirations. A boring day to the gamemakers can't have anything good come from it. Death is needed, and soon everyone will find one another, and the entire world will come crashing down. Shaking hands rub at her face trying to make sense of it all. This is what her sister lives for, and Oblivion stole that away from her when her name was drawn, but Renegade had a chance only she didn't take it. Right now, Oblivion wishes she did.
Some time is spent helping the others patch themselves up. Broken bones aren't any joke, but maybe making sure they stay in place and don't cause any further damage can help all three of them out completely. This is her life. It's what she knows more than anything, yet she's allowing herself to get closer and closer to them because she wants to care. She wants to help them. Helping others makes her happy, but right now her life is on the line, and maybe they see this as a weakness and will use it against her. It's a fear she pushes aside with a shake of her head.
If they wanted her dead, they would've already killed her.
"Just try to take it easy tonight. The swelling will start to go down now that I got the bones splinted, but you may feel some throbbing pain. Some of the herbs can help relieve that. It's always best to just try to relax. A lot easier said than done, but it's the best way to heal."
Her words are kind, and she knows healing doesn't take place overnight, but maybe in the morning they can find some relief. Odds are, the pain will intensify before getting better.
"You three go ahead and sleep. You'll need it to help heal."
Staying up watching over friends is her strong point. Many times she sat at home next to someone that was dying, and she promised to stay awake with them all night long until the morning hours came. Even when they took their last breath, she sat on the ground holding their hand letting them know it's okay. It's not the easiest moment in time, but it's the least she can do. Nobody deserves to go alone. Nobody deserves to suffer in silence when someone in the same room cares for them.
Her family never understood, and it's why they fought so much. That's why Oblivion wants to show them that healing isn't terrible. It helps people, and it sets her on her own path as her own being despite not taking the steps her parents wanted her to.
The wind is something she's never heard before. It echoes through the walls of the arena, and she's afraid it'll sweep her away in the blink of an eye. Animals in the lab cry out, and Oblivion wants to run. It's a terrifying thing as the arena rocks and rolls without a care in the world. It's loud, and the walls are screeching at the top of their lungs as the animals continue crying out in fear.
Every hair stands on end as she tries looking around trying to take it all in. The breeze is cool, and it's making the dried sweat feel even cooler than it truly is.
"We're in for a long night." She whispers unsure if her allies are awake, but she has a feeling they are unless they're heavy sleepers in a place like this.
Yet the wind doesn't stop not even when morning comes. It's still screaming through the halls of the arena, and it keeps moving around making walking hard, but Oblivion knows they all need to move away before something comes flying at them. It's hard to move, but maybe whatever is inside will offer a sense of relief. The door opens, and inside is a huge giant mess.
Clothes are piled everywhere. Belongings have been flung around.
A lot of people once lived here, and she can tell by the amount of houses lingering about. Her chin drops to the ground as she continues looking around. Perhaps this would've been a nice place, yet she has no way of knowing because she's trapped inside in a fight to stay alive. Various doors are open, and she wants to go inside. She wants to know more about the people who lived here. She wants to know if this is a real place or if the gamemakers made it look so real.
Most importantly it offers her hope that life exists outside the walls of Panem, and escaping this arena alive would offer her the chance to find it.
"Be careful." She calls out over the hoarse wind whipping through this created world, yet she flicks on the button to her jetpack, and flies through the air landing on one of the balconies. That's when she sees them. Part of her freezes unsure of what to do, but the other part knows what has to happen. They were sent her for a reason -
"Look out!" She cries for her allies hoping they can hear, but she knows her location is given away. None of that matters right now, though.
Grabbing the gun, she aims to the best of her ability before pressing another button on the jetpack to fly even closer. Orion said something about shooting to where they're heading, and maybe that's the trick here.
Only these aren't robots.
