Last night was a car crash

Elite Hops was a hero in the eyes of Ike O'Nyle.
The sound of Emily rebooting up with a beep in her system sends Ike over the edge of no return. Soft tears soaking into his cheeks where the light red blush of embarrassment sets in. Red glowing eyes staring back at him; eyes he hadn't seen in days and the relief that comes with Emily sets in once more. Loudly, he thanks Elite before running off with Emily, farther into this forest of green with plants taller than anything he's seen in a long time. The place feeling more and more like an oasis on this ship than anything else.
"I-I'm so happy you're back, Emily. I told you I would get you fixed again."
A small beep as the robot nudges into Ike's hand gently with affection.
"You've missed so much and not a lot at all. I found Jacob, he... he's great and seems to be doing fine, really fine actually."
The blush on Ike's cheeks grow as the bot stares emptily at him, not understanding a single thing he said.
"I-I-I just missed you so much. You saved my life. You saved me, Emily."
Ike does the only thing he can think of in this emotional state. Arms moving around the bot to the best of his ability, trying to show his gratefulness in the form of a hug. Tears on his cheeks as evening begins to come faster and faster before he continues his conversation.
"I promised you, I would fix you Emily. I-I'm just so happy, Em. You'd have liked Jacob. You would have liked the other two who I was with too. Claudio and Kassandra are cool people. Claudio put war paint on me and Kassandra can tell the future. They were really sweet to be around, almost like watching two friends bicker back and forth to one another. I hope we don't run into anyone."
Silence as red eyes stare.
"I don't know how long I can go before the Gamemakers force me to fight."
A small beep comes from Emily as she moves gently in the air around him.
"Also, never throw yourself in front of my hits ever again! Thank you, but you shouldn't sacrifice yourself for me."
The sound fills the plants around them.
"Y-You're more likely to get out of here alive than I am, so try to live more."
After the words leave his lips, the hollowness in his chest fills up with the want to go home. Despite his mistakes, he wanted to go home with this crown upon his head, just to see Klein and Mom and Dad. An ache in his chest reminds him of how homesick he truly is here. He misses the smell of his own bed, the comfort of his own home, the friends of his own district, and everything else. He misses boxing for fun, not for life. He misses so much of home that it eats away at his stomach with tension.
The sound of the anthem comes to life as the gold hologram of the capitol emblem appears. Death waits in every note of that anthem, with the shrill sounds of it's noise. Sky Bison is the first face, a girl he didn't know too well. A frown pulls on his face as he wonders who could have killed her, a mutt or a tribute? A silence falls as he can barely count how many dead there had been that day.
The last face appears in the form of Hanaa Darton. The girl he had saved from the Bloodbath, days ago. Fingers tingle with the memory of her in his arms, the thanks she gave him. Ike can feel his heart sink at the thought. He wasn't a hero like he fantasized himself to be. Rescuing anyone from death was only prolonging the inevitable. A deep sigh falls on his throat as he whispers to the hologram fading past him.
"Sorry I couldn't save you again, Hanaa."
Silence.
"Rest."
Emily whirs past him for a moment before stopping on the other side of him. A yawn leaves his lips before he stares at the emptiness of the room around him. The ground was more comfortable than he remembered it being. Fingers pull at some plants as he takes a few leaves, making a more comfortable spot to lay down on. Hands wrap around the back of his head as he leans back staring up at what would have been the floor if this ship was right side up. The lingering thought of getting sleep and dreaming of making out with Jacob fills his head.
It takes only a few moments before Ike lets his eyes slip closed and everything goes black for the night.
It's only been a good amount of time before the frantic beeping of Emily wakes him up suddenly.
"What! What is it?"
Eyes glance around the room before it lands on the creature. Antlers, tall enough to get caught in any of the plants around it, but he feels himself ready his fists. The creature stares at him for a moment too long, sending chills down his spine. Grassy remains of something grow with every step it takes and his heart beats faster with every second of watching the other.
He didn't want to fight, not after the short rest he had.
The creature moves again, this time only stopping mid-stride to stare at him once more. Ike's silently speaking to Emily in a whisper.
"I think it wants me to follow..."
Silently, he decides to follow with Emily floating nearby. The silence of the gardens feels creepier than before as he moves in step with the creature. Watching it's movements with his hands gripping tightly to form fists at his side, just in case. The silence of the night and Emily's soft beeps keep him grounded before they come upon a a field of lavender, from what he can see.
The plants station comes in handy when it needs to be. The smell is overwhelming in this place of clean smells and regular air. The field of lavender is beautiful to go through as he looks to Emily to make sure she's with him. The beauty of the field makes him feel safer than before, but the creature is still creepy with those antlers and the grassy bits it creates with every step. The field of wheat expands around them as the lavender disappears behind them. The wheat doesn't sway. It's stable, except for the wheat he pushes around to get through silently to continue following the creature.
The air is warmer here.
It's the first think Ike notices about this place.
A small sweat starts to set in before he comes upon the small puddle of water where the creature waits, staring at him.
Ike moves closer as he carefully avoids the creature, until it moves to nudge him with it's snout. A silent panic sets in, but Ike understand what it means as soon as he gets closer to the puddle. He drinks as much as he can with his hands before looking back up to see if the creature was still there, but by the time he turned back, there was no one there. Silently, he feels his heart hammer a bit more before he speaks to Emily.
"I-I think we just met a god or something?"
Instead of staying by the puddle, Ike chooses to sleep in the field of lavender. The smell soothing to his body as he pulls off everything covering his upper body, laying it on the ground as a pillow before leaning back with his hands resting behind his head. More comfortable than before, he sleeps for the rest of the night. Letting himself be taken by dreams of the strange creature and Jacob Fel's lips.
Morning comes with a darkness, he's never experienced.
"Is it still night?"
He says to Emily who beeps back to him in a manner of him taking it as a no.
Ike swears he didn't open his eyes, but he knew he did. The moment of silence that follows with him worried that he's gone blind doesn't come. Emily's red eyes glow in the dark as he can barely see anything, except himself. A sigh of relief fills him at the fact the pool of water didn't make him go blind. His body feels better than it was before and his wrist was doing much better than the day before. Almost sturdy enough that he could use it again. A sigh on his lips as he begins speaking to Emily again.
"I guess someone either forgot to turn on the lights or someone decided to turn them off. Either way, we should get moving. I don't want to find out what lingers in the dark of this ship."
Almost as if on cue, lights flicker across the room with bright glows, where the stars should be. Almost for a moment, he forgets where he is staring up at those glowing lights. Stardust is the word that floats through his head before the lights begin moving somewhere. Ike lets his feet follow as he stuffs his clothes into his bad for later. Silently, he follows with Emily beeping right behind him.
"This is almost like the sky I saw yesterday with Jacob on that bridge."
Once he reaches a certain point, he recognizes the room from what light he does have. The spacesuits hang with a heaviness on their hooks with the districts numbered above. Ike grabs for his as he slips it on, making sure it's sealed before following the rest of the little lights to the outside cold. Eyes stare up at the little stars, but outside, they're gone.
Instead, he can see a green traveling across the sky in waves of something erratic. The awe sets in his face as Ike stares up at the light, waiting to see how it moves across the sky. Beauty like this was not in Eight. The entire view almost makes it worth throwing himself into the games, but he knew nothing was worth that.
Fingertips dance along the green as Ike dares to try and reach it, swirl it around in his hands. Fingertips trying to brush through it as if he'll create a ripple along it and see it dance across the sky over and over again, but instead, he can't reach beauty like that. He silently speaks to Emily.
"I've never seen anything like this, Em."
The small beep rings in the air.
The darkness was still there, but he can finally hear something beyond just his own breathing and sounds of Emily. Someone or something is there. Ike can hear the way it breaths and moves. He can feel it in his chest as the panic begins to grow. He couldn't die under this beautiful sky. Klein was waiting for him. He promised himself to see Jacob one or more times still. He wanted to thank Kass and Dio. He wanted to see Nell. There was so much he still needed to do here.
The heavy breath of his own lips rings in the air before he speaks to Emily.
"I think someone is here."
He doesn't wait for any sort of answer. Angrily, he yells.
"Who the fuck is there!"
Ike doesn't wait for a response.
His adrenaline is pumping through his veins.
The stars were gone, but this green ocean of light fills him with hope.
Ike was born from stardust.
Swinging violently into the unknown like a comet streaking across the sky.
Didn't try hard for a diehard
Nothing I can say that you won't get wrong
And everybody asks where you're gone now
Can you only really want what you don't have enough?
