All I ever wanted in life was a chance to help people and become one of the elite in Panem. I've yearned for this for so long. Every waking second has been spent practicing and making sure I am doing the best I can. I carried my name with pride. I was happy. My family is large, and I always interacted with them. I made sure they were always taken care of. My entire family counted on me, and I wanted to make them proud. I woke up early every single morning before school to make sure I was preparing every way possible. I wanted to become one of them. I wanted to have a title. I wanted everyone to see me as something special, and after a long way, the day finally came.
That morning I woke up and put on the best outfit possible. I made sure my scruffy hair wasn't so scruffy, and I did everything in my power to look the best. First impressions are important after all. I rehearsed everything I wanted to say over and over again until I was tired of hearing it. I wasn't sure what else I could do, so I took a breath and walked through the doors. I gave it my all. I spoke the words I wanted to speak. I fought to earn my place. I fought to prove that I am deserving of it, and I walked out with my head held high. It didn't take long to knock me down. I didn't move on to round two. I didn't pass the first round, and my chances were gone. I couldn't take another try, but I always believed I deserved a second chance, and looked for a way to take it.
Every day I fought for it wondering how I can make something new. How can I change this? How can I give myself the life I want to have? It hasn't been easy, yet every single day I've fought hard for it. Every single day I planned on how to succeed and how to prove that I am worthy of accomplishing my dreams, that was when the idea hit me. Many wouldn't take their brother's registration form and switch things around so that he becomes me, and I become him. He deserves better, but I want this chance, and I am willing to do whatever I can to get it. He may not be able to have the life he wants, but I will, and that's what matters.
I was born Tiago, and for the longest time that is what I went by, but soon I took on a new identity. I changed my appearance, my hairstyle, my facial hair, everything. The way I walked and acted. I had to look like a new person. A new being. My parents wondered what was up with me. They wondered why I'm suddenly different, and I didn't have the heart to tell them that I am not Rafael. Changing took a lot of work, and my family still called me Tiago, but when I'm on the outside world, I am Rafael and nothing will ever change it.
Then it came time to try again, and I went in knowing this was my last chance. Knowing that I could fail and all my hard work be for nothing. This is such an elite group, and I don't know many people that's in it, but we're all fighting together. It's starting out small, and I need inside. I'm tired of being bred for the games. I'm tired of being forced to carry the burden of wearing the title career, and right now all I want is to find more people to overthrow the academy. Give people a chance to enter the games on their own free will not because they're trained to think that way.
This time I prepped as much as I could. I practiced and practiced, and the grueling work paid off as I was welcomed into the world. I learned of their names. I learned who they are, and right now there's so few of us, I don't think we'll ever succeed in this mission, but I will fight for it. I will try my hardest. It's the beginning of my life, and I'm ready to take it on. I will continue working for it as much as I can while in the process living two lives. My family knows me by real name while the ones I work with know me as my alias.
Putting that all aside, I am very much a family man, and I genuinely care for every single person in the world offering as much hope as I possibly can. I want to help people. I want them to feel the freedom to express themselves which is why I do what I do. I will keep working, and it doesn't take much to go from one place to the next to help myself out in all I can. I see someone in need, I stop and help them. I'll go out of my way, including giving the shirt off my back to a stranger in need, but I will never go on and brag about it. I just do what I can because it's all I know.
So now I'm in on the cause, and right now there's only a few of us, but I believe one day we will succeed. I believe we'll find a way to make it right and help those who don't want to follow the current ways. Until then, I'll keep training. I'll keep working as hard as I possibly can to get stronger and help more join the cause. I'll follow the way and give everyone advice to help those in need. I'll offer assistance because I love helping people, but I'll also do what I have to do in order to get myself higher and have advantages. I'm a family man, and I'll do whatever I can to get myself ahead. Step in my way, and I'll push you aside. I've worked hard for this, and I'm not about to let anyone stand in my way. Cheating has helped me get this far, but why have honor when those who have it don't always succeed? Cheating gets me ahead, and I know cheaters get caught, but I will not be one of them. I cover my tracks and do the best I can.
