Day Eight Anthem

The screeching of the progs die off in sudden bursts — in time with swords and guns, the shortest of songs or achingly drawn out crescendos. Your ears ring in the hours after, unable to tell if the quiet that follows the day’s fight is true silence or deafness hidden by the prolonged ringing in your ears. Maybe you’re too distracted with the knowledge that regret makes its own kind of sound to think about the faint echoes in the halls or perhaps those echoes are the only thing you hear until the anthem rises up from your own hand, filling the air with the triumph you’re meant to feel for surviving this long.

With four gone, four remain. Three more must die if you ever hope to truly take flight — back to your home.
Once the music fades away, it's back to silence, to this maze turned upside-down. You wander through the hallways, the nooks, the balconies. Whether it's true or not, the remains of this station speak of tragedy — time has been unforgiving to those who once walked above you.
But the detailing on the ship, where it still remains, was created by a metalworker with true craftsmanship. The fabrics draped over entryways were made with a weaver's precision.
Does their work matter when they are no longer around to see it?
Does yours?
Congratulations on surviving Day 7!
