Annie didn’t spend too much time at the capitol when she didn’t have to. Actually, she hated it. However, since there was a new victor crowned, that meant that she had to been the doting victor who came to all the parties to show support.
Half of it she enjoyed it, she wouldn’t lie about that. She got a chance to make sure that the new victor would be eased into it instead of thrown into the chaos. The other half she hated because she still got dirty looks from all the people that realized that she was Anatalia Morrisen, the girl won the games where no one died. She would be a hot commodity until the day she either, died or disappeared.
Sometimes she wished she could have pulled a Katelyn Persimmon and just disappear for a good couple months, but she was sure that the capitol would send for her in some sort of way. Snow always had a way of getting what he wanted, and even she knew that the capitol always wanted to know about Annie. How she was doing, how she was reacting to everything. How she was acclimating to the life of a victor, even though now two games had passed. Annie would never truly be in the clear.
She had been good about not reaching for the alcohol frequently. After all, she didn’t want to get drunk here. If she was going to do that, she was going to do it behind closed doors. At least there she could act a fool and it wouldn’t be in the public eye.
However, she did have a glass of champagne in her hand, and she moved to the balcony area of the mansion that she was at. The sun was setting, and Annie couldn’t help but think about the time she spent in one at Bette’s shop. The moment of watching the sun set on the metal was truly magical, just like she had said. However, that was almost two years ago, and Annie was now in the capitol, where everything was always perfect. Or at least, so it seemed.
She took a long sip of her champagne and held onto her arm as she gazed deep into the horizon where the sun and sky met. She wondered what was at the end of that space. She wondered if she could get lost there.
She wished she could actually.
She shook her head as it started to disappear more and more in front of her eyes.
It was time for her to go back inside.
She quickly turned around, not realizing that there was someone behind her. She bumped into the person, realizing quickly that it was a male figure, judging by the pectorals and the general height difference. Her champagne hadn’t left her glass luckily. ”Sorry…” she said quickly before visions popped through her mind. ”I’m sorry.” she said again before hanging her head. ”Im sorry…” she said for a third time, not sure why she couldn’t break herself from saying anything else.[ DARS ]
