Chapter 3
(...a continuation)
"The life I touch for good or ill will touch another life, and that in turn another, until who knows where the trembling stops or in what far place my touch will be felt.”
Prismarine read the quote from the book out loud several times over. In the elevator, she sat waiting on the next level. The subtle feeling of the movement made her feel comfortable. The small enclosure was safety. The book in her hand was of nothing in particular but just words that made her realize that death wasn't but just a day away. The tributes had stopped coming to the elevator, yet she rode it with them to each level. Some paid her no mind, standing in front of her as if she wasn't sitting in the corner watching through the clear view as it went up and down repetitively.
Darkness had been finally taken over the night sky and sleep wasn't no where in her future. Despite her age, bedtimes didn't exist when one was old enough to die for their district. Nico had not come to find their missing fetus so she took comfort to keep reading the words of a book left behind by an avox or some nerd from a previous games.

The elevator started to move down to the bottom of the shaft until it landed on the first floor. It slowed down; stopped. The number highlighted a 'one'. Hesitantly, she waited for it to open and finally it did to reveal a girl. Searching the girls intentions, the book was once again placed in front of her face.
"Out late tonight?" Accusing tone, the next page was turned and silence then fell over the two. "Are you getting on or you staying? Hurry up and decide. I am on the twelfth level."
