It doesn’t stop there.
Right?
You are in a town that you have never seen before, with people that you couldn’t even fathom being with, but you are not scared. No. You cant be. Because you chose to be here.
The thought of the reaping keeps playing in your head. You are the girl of the district that thought you could defy the odds and make your legend known. The masses were quelled with the announcement of you. All of you. Throwing yourself into the games because they all thought you never would do it.
But now here you were, cut up in various places and holding onto life by the fingertips. But you were here.
And you wouldn’t have had it any other way.
You stood outside on the porch as the rest of your allies sleep, even Curtus, who you didn’t think was going to join you guys for the night, but Milo insisted on not hurting him for now. The thought mustve sent Ridley and Delaney into a small rage, but they did not act.
You knew it wasn’t wise to turn on your district partner this early anyway.
You looked out towards the moon and realized that this couldn’t be real, even if it felt like it, and before you knew it, you had already convinced yourself that you were going to die soon. You took a beating in the bloodbath for pretty much nothing at this point. A wooden flute parachuted to you, that was all you had to show.
You sat down at the swinging bench that had been attached to the house, figuring that the house you guys chose to hide in was the best of the village, you pulled your cloak up and began to snip away at the bottom of it. The scissors in your hands felt foreign, but so did this whole arena. The fabric in your hand was soft, but you froze with it for a moment.
You realized you weren’t alone. ”Shouldn’t you be sleeping?” you spoke lightly before facing Delaney for a moment. ”Youre going to be tired for tomorrow.” You had always been a worrier, Charisma Duke, but you didn’t let it show to anyone because you didn’t want to seem weak.
”But since you’re here, can you apply this bandage to me?” you said while pushing your hair back and waiting for Delaney to close in the distance between you two.
If she was going to insist, she might as well help.
That’s what you thought.
