Chapter Seven
What don't kill you
She had taken off from where the fight left the two mutts laying dead. She had quickly neutralized the first mutt, but her finger still felt the burn of the creature. She frowned as she looked to her arm that had finally stopped bleeding, but her back radiated heat that she could feel even in the cold that surrounded her. The second mutt had almost killed her or at least to her it felt like. First aid some was something that she didn't really pay attention to when she was in the training center, but she new enough from the times that her mother or Soul would take care of her. If there was heat on a wound, then infection could fester if not taken care of properly. With the cold water, she noticed the shards of ice floating around and the idea that came with it.
Prismarine jumped off the dock, pulling her socks off and her pointed shoes leaving them on the dock above. That was the last thing she wanted to do was to get them wet. Pins and needles pierced her skin as she stepped in the water. Her body shivered furiously and chill bumps broke out all over her arms. The further she went into the water she was able to gather a few shards of ice. Her apron cocooned the ice crystals and as quick as possible, she returned to shore with her feet bright red.
"Punk. Stay on the dock please. Don't... I said... no!" Punks inability to listen caused him tumbling down from the dock onto the shore just a few feet below. It rocked back and forth like an old turtle that had fallen on its back. A sly grin appeared on Prismarine's face. "You look funny, but I told you to stay on the dock. You poor thing.. they didn't create very much intelligence with you. Hollow and all."
She did her best to keep from laughing any longer. She reached for and hugged the creature as she righted him back onto his stubby little feet. Patting the top of his head, she opened her wet apron to see the ice shards and with a few snips of her scissors, she cut the apron and placed the ice into the center before wrapping her back wounds. The chill of the ice made her shiver and with another snip of her apron, the fabric was then used to wrap the wound on her arm. The deep gash needed to be stitched, but unfortunately, that just wasn't a luxury.
Remembering Red came all too quickly. Flashes of her cousin's games pinpointed how much Red had suffered until the very end. How much Prismarine had wanted her to return home to her but in the end, she just wasn't strong enough to overcome the now present victor. "Serves her right... hopefully, she had a good long nap."
Upon further investigation, she noted a few things scattered around on the ground and she picked them up along with a few other things. The matches were stuffed in her pocket and she looked to her little friend. "Come on now. Lets get out of here before the boat..."
The sound of the engine running alerted her to something strange. Even though the rusted and somewhat unsafe looking steamboat began to shift it's movement and before she could realize, it began slowly moving away.
"No! Stop! Wait for me." She ran for the dock again with her friend in tow and dashed across the planks, narrowly landing on the steamboat before it had gotten too far away. A chilled floor sent shivers down her spine and she watched as the docks then became a thing of the past. She waved to it, wanting nothing more then to see a friendly face, but as she looked down to Punk, it stared at her with adoration. "I'm here for you, Punk. I won't leave you behind."
Prismarine, began to explore the steamboat, looking for the captains chair to see who might be steering the fated vessel.
