Following my parents into battle was always a dream of mine. Many times I sat in my room watching them go fight in the war that I so badly wanted to join that when I heard of an opening as a medic, I had to go for it. Throughout my life I’ve always enjoyed helping people, so why not do it now that I have a reason to? It took a bit of learning, but I learned what was needed to save a life of someone injured and get them off the front lines to somewhere safe, but as always nobody can predict what will happen.
That day is still very foggy in mind. One moment I’m marching through the streets, and the next thing I know, I’m flying backwards unsure of what happened. My ears rang for the longest time as blood trickled from a small cut across my forehead, but the worst pain came from my leg. I don’t know what happened, but the muscle spasms were horrible. Every time I tried to move it, I felt like someone was trying to cut it off. Turns out I had a broken femur, and I was pulled from the front lines. I even tried crawling back to the front lines to continue what I enjoyed doing, but I kept getting pulled away. I wanted to do more, but my leg injury prevented that.
To this day, I struggle to walk on it because I didn’t allow for proper healing. I wanted to hurry back to pick up where I left off, but it didn’t matter because now the war is over, and it’s the citizens fault for not fighting back with us. If we had more man power we would’ve succeeded, but that’s okay because the war isn’t over right now. I will still fight for as long as I can because it’s all that I know, and I want to light a fuse for all the rebels to realize that at least one person is still fighting. One thing is for sure, the war isn't over. Not for me. Not ever.
