"And with death, we ask of you to free our souls from this suffering and onto the next existence with serenity in mind for us, Ripred."Grey buildings break way into a soft spot of green. In the small park, elm trees teeter towards the skies and patches of flowers run along the garden walls. Children play among the daisies and roses while a nearby fountain burbles like a babbling brook. A place of peace within a world waning in work.
At the heart of stoned walkways rests a small structure, a cross of wood adorning its head. From the outside it doesn't seem like all that much, but push past the oak doors and one discovers a church hall blanketed in color. All the pews point in the same direction, an alter of stone which stands before a wall made entirely of stained glass. At the center of many scenes within the window, the image of a girl with her arms wrapped around a boy as a sword of light pushes through her chest.
Helena Crane and Jonas De Lange.
For centuries, their story has been the soul of this church and the center of its beliefs. Each service starts with Jonas' prayer and ends with Helena's. Atop the stone alter beneath which Helena lies eternally, a member of the Crane family shares the values of their sect of Ripredism through the weekly service. Echoing the words of Helena Crane herself, flesh is merely a prison for the soul which longs to be free from the violence of humanity."When the day is dark and our path forward is hidden, Ripred, give us but a single spark of light. We will find it and follow wherever it may lead us."
The Plot
Thank you to Tom for letting me use Jonas and his quote in this way to create a plot I am thrilled about starting. Essentially, after the Games the Cranes rebuilt and restored the church in memory of Helena. Not only this though, they completely took up her ideology of the human-soul relationship. This means that for the most part the Crane descendants prioritizes faith above all and see violence as the primary sin of humankind.
All that blabbering being said, I don't want to say any more. I want to open this plot up and see what all you come up with. In terms of the Crane family they are relatively small so there aren't many spots and this plot is not first come first serve. However, I do FULLY open up the Crane church to any characters y'all have or want to make as possible attendants and members of the church. Just let me know so I can read along and flail! The CranesPearson Crane <> 17 year old <> Male <> Played by Arrows
Very active in leadership at the church and quite the home body. Prefers to watch the world from a window rather than engage with it. Typically turns to inward self reflection than outward involvement.
