Part II: Alight

On the beginning of the third day, an explosion that dwarfs each and every one heard the previous day wakes every tribute from their slumber, whether they’re in the Canopy Village or resting in the shade of the Floodplain Forest. Another ungodly shriek follows the sound, barely noticeable at the far reaches of the arena but loud, clear and distinctly not human from those closer to the center.

And then, once again, there is only silence. What on earth could possibly be going on?
