Took the Midnight Train and Now We're Here (D9 Train)

The lovely lavish look of the train's interior upon boarding was exactly what I had expected, plus a little bit more. I'd lived in wealth back in District Nine, which wasn't something that could be said by many of the individuals who resided there, but this was the next step up. When I'd been escorted from the Justice Building after my grand total of zero visitors came to see me, they brought me here, and I was ready for the journey ahead of me.

My district partner didn't seem quite as ready. Despite the fact that he had volunteered like I had, he didn't seem to be as thrilled about what he'd done. Shortly after we'd both boarded the train, he rushed to the bathroom. Was he seriously already feeling sick? That's a bit pathetic if you ask me. How was he going to handle the Games if he couldn't handle the reaping and a train ride?

The boy comes back out of the bathroom, dead set on where he's going to sit without looking at his surroundings in the slightest and pops a squat on the seat directly next to me. That's when I realize something. I've met this kid before. I'd come across him in the District one day, moping on a bench, probably feeling like shit but not wanting to talk about it. Naturally, I had sat down next to him and struck up conversation, whether he had wanted me to or not.

Here we were again, sitting down next to one another, the guy not wanting to talk to anyone and clearly feeling like shit. So, what did I do? I spoke to him.

"Feeling like shit again, eh? That's how it was the last time we met. Maybe I could get your name this time?" were the words that I chose. I knew he didn't want to talk to me, but that just made it all the more fun. Maybe he'd even grow to like me. That, or I'd be his first target if he could stomach the arena enough to try to kill me. Either way, what fun!
