Risk or Reward? [Nevermore; Day 1]

Ikaros Vallanso was not scared.
The height of the village they happened upon was dangerous, surely to be fatal if any of them make a mistake. The risk of carrying wealth around, sticking out with heavy packs that surely could lead to their doom. A single push could lead to a fall that none of them would survive. A laugh on the edges of his lips bleeds out as he continues along a bridge connecting one of the village buildings. A peek inside shows no one is home, no people, hell not even sure if there's a sign of life in there. Eyes glance about before he notices a glittering of metal. A weapon that's heavy, just like the heavy machinery in five he used to lift for workers.
"Huh."
The confusion slips from his lips as he takes it down from the wall, staring at the silver of the metal glittering back at him. The sharp end on the back of it looking deadlier than his whip. Silently, he pushes it in his bag, tossing the useless compass which didn't even help them get here. There's no time for mapping out an arena, the gamemakers would just mess with it anyways. Fingers thread through his hair as he wipes sweat away and focuses back on his allies. Blood no longer coating the ground they had once been in, fresher here than back there.
Ikaros' panic had died down ages ago, but his paranoia was getting worse. He could feel the way his body jerks at the slightest of sounds. A breeze passing through, swaying the village with a creaking sound of wood before it settles once more ringing in his ears. Death was below them, but this was their fight now. Minos had a hellscape and now he'll have a different form of a hellscape where the flora and fauna could kill them at any given notice. A laugh from his lips as he lets himself stop for a moment. Tired, sweaty, and wanting nothing more than to be high or drunk right now.
"Can someone just sponsor me something to get me high?"
Eyes glancing up to the sky as if someone will answer his wish.
Risk or reward.
Either way, he just wanted to be higher than the sky right now and pretend he isn't in some death game trying to survive, despite being nothing more than a kid who had to grow up too fast. His father would watch with those dead eyes, wishing Ikaros would die. The risk and reward of this games almost makes it worth it in order to get his siblings out of that fucked situation. No more drugs. No more pain. No more parents. It would become a paradise if he could succeed in this, but he's not a killer. He's never been a killer. Fingers stretch the fabric of his shirt as he waits patiently on the edge of the building.
He's so fucked still.
His father would be waiting.
