CARMEN STIRLING
- You invited... EVERYBODY?
You see your sister's face go pale with surprise. This is definitely not what she expected. However, you don't regret it. When you spent the whole day inviting people who paid you for singing they seemed happy. This house has been empty and quiet for way too long. You want it to be flooded with love and happiness - for grandma, for Cathy and for every other person you have ever seen.
- It is my birthday, sis. And I want to have a birthday concert!
She sighs and throws her hands up.
- How am I supposed to find food for all of them?
- You are not supposed to feed anybody. This is just a party for people to have fun and be together.
Cathy's expression is unreadable. There's sadness, confusion, fear of losing you if the Peacekeepers decide you are trying to stir some kind of unrest. She sighs and drops helplessly into a creaky armchair. You look out of the window and watch the white clouds flying by because you know you are in trouble. Hopefully, the guests will start arriving soon. Especially those uncountable Izar relatives who have always been there for you even if you tried to push them away. Maybe you will even admit how much they matter to you. You miss your cousin Cat, you haven't talked for so long...
- You can't go on like this forever, Carmy. You can go to school now, you can do other things than freeze in those streets. And you can't be so...
- Human?
- Irrational.
- I am meant to take this path.
- So if you went to the games once and came back you think it's your destiny to be some kind of hope symbol? Those days have already taken too much away from you.
-No. It's my destiny to sing. Because music inspires people.
She wipes a stray tear because she still doesn't understand. She loves you though. Maybe you will even go to school and learn to write to make her happy.
-Sorry. I know it means a lot to you. I wish there was a way to sing... in better conditions.
You hug and sit quietly till you hear the first person knocking on the door and rush to open it.
-Hey there, come on in, let's PAAAAAARTYYYYYYYY have a cup of tea!!!!!!!!!
...................................................................................................
When everyone's gathered in the small garden of your house, you climb up onto a shed roof and cough.
-Thank you all for coming! You made my day and my life by being here and making me feel warm. We have been through a lot of pain. Some of us are going through hard times now...
With all the Izars getting reaped it sure isn't easy...
- There are still lots of challenges ahead but we can pull through together. So that's what this party is for. Just being around each other. I know... I don't always admit it... But you matter a lot and I want to share the spark that you kept alive in me with all of you. And I... ummm... put together a few songs to thank you.
Suddenly, you hear humming from the audience.
-Lalaaalalalaala
It's Cathy's voice and your favourite song. The one that kept you from freezing in winter when the two of you were shivering under a thin blanket. And the one that kept you sane in the arena. You join in softly and soon the two of you are absorbed into the softness of the melody.
-People help the people...
You sing the world people again and again, thinking of Cathy, of Shy, of grandma and everything you've been through. You are feeling free and light as a feather. Like everyone else, you need those moments when you are reminded you are human. Because when they happen, you are growing up and you are not afraid of infinity anymore.
OOC: yay it is an open thread everyone's welcome, I won't be posting in here anymore but thank you for replying if you do :mlp_heart_eyes:
