The Anthem - Day 3

As the last of the day’s light filters through the trees, the humidity is momentarily oppressive, like a dark curtain wrapped close around your body. In the dark there’s no escape from the elements, from the buzzing bugs to the murmuring mutts. Then, just a few moments after full dark, the rain comes. A gentle pitter patter shakes the leaves. It pulls some of the humidity from the air and when the storm passes sometime later, it leaves behind the scent of fresh flowers.

Into this peace, the anthem begins to play.
