Two of the creatures entirely missed. Sighing, she knew that there was still time for them to do some damage but it wasn't a good sign if they couldn't even successfully launch an ambush. Of all of them, the bird was the most effective - nearly tearing a hole through the vest Ophiuchus was wearing.

Hopefully this would be a real showdown and not merely a speedbump to this trio with their fancy gifted items. Perhaps she should have made some tweaks to lessen the impact of these weapons, but she had been hoping to see them used on other tributes rather than mutts.

Still, they had failed to kill the bird outright so perhaps it wouldn't all be smooth sailing.

Slurp
Of the three of them, only he actually hit anything. The bird, though, the bird was doing fine. Maybe he would just take the bird with him and let the other two wander lost through the arena - if they survived. The blow the one boy landed on Lick was ferocious and the snapping sound sent a shiver through him. He would have to help them again, it seemed.

She knew she wasn't the most effective fighter, but neither was Lick. At least she hadn't had her jaw broken. If he lived through this fight he would have a hard time eating. Real shame for the guy, since all he loved to do was eat. Still, she didn't exactly wish for him to die. The bird had been a good choice by Slurp, as always, dive-bombing the one boy and striking him full in the chest. She would try to match that.

His jaw ached, pained, screamed. He had heard the loud crack when the boy struck him and now he could barely move it. In pain, angry, and feeling a little desperate after missing, he turned his body toward the boy and did his best to ram him.

Whatever passing daze had caught them - perhaps the ambush had affected them in some way - it was gone now. With three clean strikes, one from each of them, they felled the bird and one of the capyphants. This was more of the drama she was looking for, but a nagging feeling of time creeping up on them almost made her hope that the mutts might put up a bit more of a fight before they were slain.

At least leave them with lasting wounds, not just something that they could stitch up and forget about.

They killed the bird and Lick in a matter of moments. Seeing that they were losing any ground that they had, he knew he would have to do something a bit more desperate. This might be the end of all of them and he had led them there. Maybe he had gotten something wrong after all.

The bird was dead. Lick was dead. Slurp was still fighting but she wasn't so sure of his leadership anymore. He was going to get all of them killed. Still, she didn't know what else to do so she followed his lead for what might be the last time.

With no working jaw he had no hope of living. Now, with his flesh shredded by their weapons, he at least didn't have to worry about being hungry anymore.

She had already watched her mutts kill two tributes over the last two days. The female cat yesterday and now the remaining male this day. Here, however, the tributes were faring much better. Two of the mutts lay dead and the other two had already begun to bleed. The tributes themselves were not doing very poorly either.

As the two remaining mutts missed, she realized that perhaps she hadn't challenged their wealth winners enough. Instead, she had simply supplied them with the opportunity to perfect their attacks and gather some food.

Hopefully this trio might come across some other tributes again so that they would have a greater challenge.

Slurp
He was bleeding now, and so was Lap. As they continued to fight he did his best to avoid looking at the bodies of Lick and the bird. He wasn't sure he wanted to continue like this anymore, but there was no way he could stop now. His only hope was that these humans might flee if they scared them enough. So he threw himself at the one who had killed Lick and sliced him open, desperate to inflict enough injury to drive him away.

She was in pain. An endless pain that only seemed to get worse when she moved. Still, she couldn't stop moving. If she stopped now, she felt like she would never move again. Slurp was still going, bleeding from a wound worse than hers were. He was still going, so she should be able to as well. She kept her focus on that as she struck out again at those who were hurting them.
