"Soon enough you'll be on your own
Steady and straight
And if they drag you through the mud
It doesn't change what's in your blood"
~Another death canon had sounded but not from far away or to know who it was. It was known because the canon belonged to that girl we had severed so much of. I played a part in her demise from yesterday, but today, I didn't touch her. My hand in her death wasn't my own, but River's blood boiled once again not taking the kill for herself. I could care less. Instead, there was another threat posed in my presence. It wasn't merely leaving the two girls to escape but it was the promise I made as they ran. The piggyback girl already learned not to mess with me, and therefore kept her distance. The other one - I glowered at her with a silent curse under my breath.
Xavier had came with us as I ushered him along with a wave of a hand and as we decided to settle for a little while during the travels, I managed to stop near the banks of the water. My shoes are removed and slowly I dip my feet into the cool, but lukewarm water. It feels good even though I know this is only short lived. We are only three days into this hell and there's nothing more I want then to hurry and get out or perish like the last two. Somewhere, I know Haylee is watching and before I reach into to retrieve my token, I glance to make sure no one is watching.
"Avonlea, did you have to deal with this? Your fight was merely a day before they crowned the victor, but you fought without thoughts. You weren't allowed help and because of that you fell soon after the gates had opened. I have every faith that if you were able to have made an alliance like myself, you'd have been unscathed and unharmed and strong until the end and you would have had heirs of your own. Maybe, I could have been your great great granddaughter -"
The gloss of the paper shined in my face the sun's reflection and I burned my eyes when I followed the path, though something caught my eye. A twinkling of noise brought my attention to two parachutes, one bigger than the other. I reached for them, taking my feet out of the water and folding it under my body.
"A bed? and paper and pen?" I nod, happy that someone would want me to have a nice sleep tonight but it made me wonder, why would someone want me to have a good sleep? What would occur tomorrow that I would need to be rested? Though the pen and paper also sparked my muse and the shadow of the over head birds caught my attention.
It was going to be too easy.
A few words landed not far from me, and I inched my way over to them.
[Amberly catches words?]
