After a bloody, exhausting day, the crimson sunset is mostly obscured by the storm. The gloomy arena darkens quickly, light fleeing like your allies should have. The weight of the humidity is the only comfort; there’s no one left in the arena to hug you and hold you close. With a shriek of thunder, the anthem begins to play:
Eloise Abramovich, District Eight
Laurent Crest, District Three
22 gone, only 2 remain. Just one more must die if you ever hope to see your home again.
Congratulations on surviving Day 8!
Nothing is spared from the torrential downpour. It soaks every last bit of you - your items, your satchel, your clothes, your very core. The flood of water forces you higher, up up up to the tops of the trees, onto dangerously swinging bridges. Three dark figures, one purple, one blue, one teal shadow your ascent. When there is no higher bridge to climb, they scale the ropes, cutting off any hope of escape. They are silent sentries in the punishing rain.
You know in your gut that it will only end when a victor is crowned.
