Those clouds of misery
Blow them all away.
Lock them in a box.
Maybe even lose the key.
There was a small crisis at hand; Algernon couldn't decide which tie to wear. On a day like this, the perfect outfit was imperative. Technically every day called for its own special attire, as Algernon was a man of style and decor, but this day was especially important. He had plans. Plans with a flavor spontaneity because Copernicus had no idea what was in store for him. That busy boss man needed a break, but Algernon knew he was more inclined to reject the offer of an extracurricular activity. He had never met someone so dedicated to his work, so today he would not be allowed to say no.
For once in his life, perhaps he would adopt the role of assertive. Or, you can just say yes! That would make things so much easier.
He settled on a plum designer tie. A classic. Cool color tones suited him best, though he didn't mind a splash of carmine here or canary yellow there. A designer must charm and create with all colors. Otherwise, why bother? Nobody could make the industry if they couldn't turn caramel into couture.
Algernon could spend an eternity in front of a mirror. A perfectionist in his work, he wouldn't call himself conceited - only dedicated, perhaps slightly obsessive. Aesthetics were all he really had. That was his success, his brand, his legacy. The public eye didn't care about anything else, and he was used to it by now.
He styled his hair until it bounced with every step. The hardest part was coming, so he took a deep breath before he walked across the Fenwick estate. Copernicus was a hardworking man and his best friend. Easy to talk to, but not easy to think about. His heart's desire. Copernicus was someone he couldn't have, but that didn't mean they couldn't spend personal time together.
Today, he had an offer.
Before walking in, he listened through the door to avoid interrupting a phone call. When his ears met silence, he burst in with a smile spread across his dimpled cheeks. "Copper! Let's do something today!" He exclaimed, cheery as always. "I already planned something, actually. I'm sure you could use a break, right?" He batted his eyelashes for good measure. He had a carriage awaiting them outside - all he had to do was say the magic word.
