lorenzo pevek!
Lorenzo hasn't yet been able to feel any more real than the day he got brought back to life. There was an ever growing list of things that don't make sense to a thirteen year old boy: girls, hygiene, not being able to eat food off the floor. Having a father to yell at you for eating said food off the floor, having a father to eat the same floor food with you. It’s only been a week since Enzo moved back to Ten, and even more wild, it’s only been three months since Mace knew his name for the first time.
Why did he care? Well,"Maybe 'cause I'm cool as shit!"
It had to be something special, something that set him apart from the other lame kids in the district. Lorenzo said it with his chest out to Rogue, King Lorenzo of, hmm, the cool! He undid the locks of Mace's leather suit case and folded his clothes as neat as he could. Maybe it's just the fact that Lex sliced his ear off on television, or Mace just wanted another celebrity for a son. Either way, he didn't question it; hell, he couldn't question it. Just pack his one bag and get back to the peacekeeper in the black cab.
The walk back was just him convincing himself that this was allowed. Getting to live, be happy, to be Mace's son -- Lorenzo didn't want to question it. Not when it's what he had been waiting for, it seemed crazy to second guess it. Whether he should be upset over dying or upset over living, it didn't matter, even if it was a lot. After all, he just decided to ignore it all. It was easier to pretend it never happened anyways, that he was just the cutest thing to come out of that reaping bowl. Lorenzo Pevek was on ten episodes, he was a fan favorite,
he got voted tribute of the month!
Mace and Ansgar helped him along the way, and this was family now. The family he waited for so long, teenage depression be damned but he would find a way to enjoy it. All that left was just, "Miss Saffron?"
One small call from a crack in the front door. Lorenzo had struggled with his courage since Shy, and it was a leap in his kid heart to open that door alone. Mace wanted him to do it alone, for Lorenzo to grow in the space and spend just a second by himself. To meet Saffron, alone, for the first time. They were going to be family, and he couldn’t tell if he felt hopeful or like he was going to piss himself.
Of everything, this was something that he couldn't come to terms yet, he tucked Mace's house key into his trouser’s back pockets before forcing himself and his luggage through. Lorenzo felt the clean air in his lungs so much differently than what it felt like back in the Pound. It smelled like, uhh, victors really, he didn't know how to describe it, but he left his suitcase at the door. Part of him felt strange coming in without Mace, as if he was breaking and entering and a peacekeeper would just throw his ass in the detention center after everything.
"Miss Saffron-!" he found her on the upper story, calling out her name just to meet her above the stair case. Mouth open, wide eye'd - he couldn't help but laugh making eye contact with her. It felt crazy, he felt fucking stupid- he always was but it really tugged at him in this moment. Lorenzo Pevek, from television, he was poor and loveless and he stared at her knowing he had to convince her that Lorenzo was neither.
And for a kid as small as him, as fast as him, he knew he couldn't.
He lifted his hands in front of his chest, worry in his brows but a smile nonetheless. A smile, always, "I'm Mace's kid!" His new kid, the dumb one, "he gave me the key I promise I didn't break in."
