Hallowed, but hesitated
Shallow, but full in all your veins
Shadowed by every other weightVictor had yelled at her after Isabelle had fled the training session. He’d called her a fool, promised her that if she didn’t get her act together she’d be dead. Meredith had remained, knees planted on the floor, a hand covering her bloody, broken nose as tears had spilled from her eyes. Blood had continued to seep through her shirt, and her body screamed in pain as she’d listened to him spit at her, picking up her spear and snapping it in half. He should’ve broken it over her head, he’d say. Maybe it would have knocked some sense into her, he’d yell. She’d listened, none of it as painful as the venom Isabelle had spat at her.
A pale hand trails along the wall, fingers running over the splitting wallpaper. She’s walking down the dark halls, lost to her own misery when she sees him. Finn’s sitting by the kitchen table, hunched over. The house is cold, and the night air has begun to creep into the seams, biting at her exposed skin. Meredith pulls on the sweater she’s wearing, tugging it over her hands as she walks over to Finn. Her body aches, the exposed mess of her nose throbs in the chilly air. Dark circles line her eyes, and her face was a swollen puffy mess. The wound to her chest wasn’t any better, but she had managed to layer that one up with some bandages and gauze.
Moving into the room she walks over to the table, pulling out the chair beside him. There was blood coming from a nasty looking wound in his hand. “How’d you get that one?” She asked, tilting her head to take in his tired face and pain-filled eyes. It seems he had managed to get the first aid kit out but hadn’t been able to open it or start tending the wound, so Meredith reaches forwards, unclipping the case before digging in to grab some wound cleaner and bandages. She turns to face him, hesitating as she went to reach for his injured hand.
“Let me help you,” she said, giving him a faint smile.
