[Delivery] Word - (Cornucopia, Petal Storm, Emerald Field, Red Beach, Cloud Spire, Catacombs)
The docile and loyal Delivery Words (commonly called 'Words') are extremely adaptable and capable of crossing lands and bodies of water to deliver mail for the cost of a couple sunflower seeds. Delivery Words usually prefer to fly away from combat. Their meat is highly delicious and packed with essential vitamins. It is not hard to spot a Delivery Word, with their black feathers, gray-specked eyes, and tendency to honk loudly; however, Words can be hard to capture with its ability to withstand high acidity. The main area of the Delivery Word is at the Acid Lake middle, where its white-spotted back and straight tail feathers taunt hungry people.
10 HP. Classified as Small Game. Not poisonous. Knife rolls.
The Night Walker - (Petal Storm, Emerald Field, Cloud Spire, Cornucopia)
There are fables of such a being - one whose antlers stretch to the heavens and branch into millenia. It walks like a monk, dreamily wandering through the corridors, up the stairs, gliding between garden fronds and the catacombs that twist and turn. Some say that the Capitol, bored of living a life of luxury, created it just because they could. Others say that it appeared, and was nearly untouchable. All you know is the soft tapping of hooves, and the footprints of moss and wildflowers that seem to grow in its wake. Nature, now flourishing in this hunk of metal, has its own avatar.
45 HP. Not poisonous. Classified as Large Game. Blunt rolls.
The Joshua Tree - (Petal Storm, Cloud Spire)
Legend has it that it was named for the son of a games engineer as a tribute to his child, Joshua. But it’s only a legend. While this idyllic insect-plant cross appears to the tributes as an oasis of sorts, it is a harbinger of pain and suffering for any unsuspecting victim not watching his or her surroundings. Do not be fooled by the bent arms, promising shade and comfort. The ends of each branch, which have the look of palm fronds, are as sharp as five hundred knives and the wood as tough as steel. Rumor has it that it was created years ago for use in a desert arena, the idea quickly abandoned when R&D testing resulted in some unsavory side effects for the engineers (loss of limbs and blood seemed to be the predominant injuries). This animated flora can sense approaching tributes, lashing out with its branches and shooting painful barbs (infused with poison more often than not). Scattered throughout the terrain and blending in with trees with less bloodthirsty ambitions, this mutt can survive in near-freezing and sweltering conditions. Proceed with caution.
20 HP. Not poisonous. Not edible. Knife rolls.
Nakom - (Cornucopia, Petal Storm, Emerald Field, Red Beach, Cloud Spire)
As beautiful and brutal as the jungles they inhabit, Nakoms travel in colorful swarms that move as one mind. Small animals stream out in front of the hand-sized butterflies, almost comical in their desperate escape from army ant jaws. Years ago Nakoms cleared out dangerous predators so Capitol armies could travel safely, but the swarms were gassed and the project discontinued when they lived up to their name—conquerors—a little too well, leaving the land devoid of all food and then turning on their creators and charges. They are hard to frighten and even harder to escape, which is what makes them such exciting opponents for tributes—along with the fact that they have little regard for whether they kill something before eating it.
25 HP. Not poisonous. No food classification. Knife rolls.
Lobster Telephone - (Red Beach)
A true novelty, the lobster telephone is exactly what its name advertises: a lobster that is also a telephone. One part delicious, one part wacky, and one part functional, so long as you don't let it wander off then you can keep your friends and family close, even if they're far. Trained to cutely clamp onto a leash for transport, lobster telephones have been recalled due to frequently latching onto their owners instead. The bright side is that you won't lose your precious ability to communicate... but you might lose a finger or an ear instead.
12 HP. Not poisonous. Classified as Small Game. Knife rolls. Special - can latch onto tributes either through random events or through choice and can allow tributes to communicate long distance with one another. Each tribute can only have one lobster telephone latched onto them at a time.
Little Dear - (Throughout)
A living trap, it's difficult for anyone humane to resist the urge to come to the aide of these innocent-seeming deer. Sent out with terrible injuries - arrows and axes lodged deeply into their flesh - and their keening cries genetically modified to sound childlike, from a distance they seem like escaped victims of a hunting encounter. However, advanced medical technology has made it possible to heal a spear through the heart to little more than an artificial wound, all while leaving the weapon in place. To the deer it is the equivalent of a scraped knee and anyone kindhearted enough to attempt to come to its aide will discover that the great antlers atop its head have been sharpened into a jutting mass of deadly blades. Also too late comes the realization that the deer is panicking not because of its wounds, but because their head has been encased in a mask that renders it blind, deaf, and unable to smell. Even if the person following their aching heartstrings thinks they know the wounded Little Dear, precious and worth saving, it does not know them. It knows the only way to be saved here is to save yourself.
20 HP. Not poisonous. Classified as Large Game. Knife rolls, blunt rolls.
Night Viper - (Cornucopia, Petal Storm, Emerald Field, Red Beach, Cloud Spire, Catacombs)
Initially, this Owl/Viper/Firefly hybrid was developed to help track rebels at night more efficiently than its mutant cousin the Alarm Owl. The Night Viper’s venom is highly visible at night, containing an altered form of the enzyme luciferase, which gives fireflies their trademark glow. This venom is still highly toxic, tagging enemies in order to make them very easily seen at night, though it does not kill for several hours, letting tagged rebels lead the Capitol right back to their bases. The issue with these mutts, of course, is that they don’t really distinguish between rebels and the Capitol forces, and will attack anyone indiscriminately.
15 HP. Poisonous. Not edible. Knife rolls, whip rolls.
Condor - (Cornucopia, Petal Storm, Emerald Field, Red Beach, Cloud Spire)
Upon first glance you may mistake the majestic Condor for your run of the mill vulture, but don’t be fooled by this rare specimen. A lightning strike of white runs horizontally through its otherwise black wings, the span of which is easily taller than you, young tribute. While the Condor is a carrion scavenger, it would not think twice about shoving a tribute out of the way to get to its next meal.
20 HP. Not poisonous. Not edible. Knife rolls.
Diamondfowl - (Cornucopia, Petal Storm, Emerald Field, Red Beach, Cloud Spire)
It was, by far, the most expensive luxury Capitol pet ever invented. Not settling for the beauty of a normal peacock, Capitol scientists and designers took it one step further by weaving the feathers of the Diamondfowl with traces of diamond. The result was a truly magnificent creature, with an equally as magnificent price tag. However, when it was released to the market, it bombed, the price tag that came along with it pushing away even the most obsessed Capitolite. So it was recalled, killed off except for a select few. That is, until the 68th Games rolled around. Due to a rather eccentric and zany scientist, the Diamondfowl has made it's (quite literally) triumphant return, except this time it's not just a pretty pet. To increase it's lethality, the feather's in it's tail have been sharpened to the point of darts, which can be launched by the mutt at any threat by whipping it's tail, all while looking beautiful.

20 HP. Not poisonous. Classified as Large Game. Knife rolls, thrown knife rolls.
Orizuru - (Cornucopia, Petal Storm, Emerald Field, Red Beach, Cloud Spire)
The orizuru birds were created for the benefit of the Capitol's meteorologists, who could utilize their practical weightlessness for airborne weather vanes, and the crisp texture of their paper-like wings as indicators of moisture in the air. They were hypnotic to watch when swarms were released from the tops of cliffs or weather centers, and it was often hard to believe that they really were living creatures, and not just folded origami cranes swirling in the wind. But aside from the undeniable fact that they were flapping their wings and riding the air currents, look closely enough at their wings and you can see the thin capillaries that run through them; hold their thicker folded core up to the light, and you can almost track the vibrating heartbeats that cause a faint shadow to pulse there. Swarming their prey, they dive in with their wings and beaks, the sharp clean edges of their paper thin skeletons slashing across any flesh they can see.

25 HP. Not poisonous. Not edible. Knife rolls.
Sabertooth Bats - (Cloud Spire, Cornucopia, Catacombs)
At first glance, Sabertooth Bats appear to be regular bats. They come in various shades of black, brown, gray, and even reddish-orange, and dwell in similar types of places. If you saw one flying at you, though, the difference between the two species would be immediately apparent: protruding out of the mouths' of these Capitol muttations are two poisonous fangs that grow up to six inches in length. The Capitol combined the genes of large fruit bats, long extinct Sabertooth Tigers, and even a particularly venomous species of viper to create a creature with a wingspan of up to 6 feet with superior night vision, perfect for tracking rebels who may try to run under the cover of night. Their one weakness, though, is that somewhere in the mix they acquired glowing eyes; if you spot a luminous pair of orbs in the darkness, you may just have a chance to escape.
8 HP. Not poisonous. Not edible. Knife rolls.
Sinking Worms - (Petal Storm, Emerald Field, Cornucopia, Catacombs)
Does the thought of being sucked underground frighten you? Because Sinking Worms do just that. They run 8-feet long along their length, and their gaping mouth is easily large enough to swallow a tribute. Sinking Worms drag their prey underground, straight into their gut. Adapted by the Capitol to tackle rebels, the Sinking Worms give a clean and slow death. Drilling its grey head up and out of the ground, the worm grabs the victim by its legs and drags them underground, attempting to swallow them whole. It takes a long time, as the worm’s esophagus gets tighter and tighter as its prey is digested. The mutt was abolished due to the fact that it kept swallowing livestock whole in District 10, and people often fell into the deep holes the mutt left behind. Now, the Sinking Worms dig themselves into the fragile ground of the Arena, and tributes should watch their step if they don’t want to be gobbled up.

Hoarder — (Emerald Field, Catacombs)
The gemstone miners of District One requested that the Capitol create a mutt to make their jobs easier, and so the Capitol scientists created the Hoarder, a burrowing animal with a mix of weasel and mole genes that had an eye for shiny things, particularly precious gems. Mining teams would receive their Hoarder - careful to keep it in a cage until it was needed, because they bite - and descend into the depths of the earth and release it to do its job. At first, they seemed to be an invaluable creation - however, it soon became clear that a Hoarder bite was exceedingly poisonous, possibly due to an unintentional addition of viper genes during the muttation’s creation. In addition, the creatures would not return the gems it found to the miners; instead, they would hoard them, earning their name. Immediately the production of these animals were called off, and it was decided that the remaining Hoarders would be an excellent addition to Hunger Games arenas, burrowing tunnels beneath the ground, searching for precious stones and occasionally coming up to nick a tribute’s district token for its collection and give him a sharp, lethal bite for good measure.
10 HP. Poisonous. Not edible. Knife rolls.
Mormo – (Throughout)
A small, wraith-like flying cat that wears a cloak of mist. This mutt was originally developed as a pet for a wealthy Capitol resident, before it became much too creepy for her to handle. After turning the mutt over to the Gamemakers, they made a few tweaks, including adding a vein of poison to its kitty claws. This is a quiet mutt, nearly silent in its attacks, except for the occasional hiss.
8 hp. Poisonous. Classified as Small Game. Knife rolls.
Pixie Wasps - (Petal Storm)
Pixie wasps, roughly the size of a human hand, are experts at camouflage. Disguising themselves as large blue flowers, it's horrifyingly easy to walk into what one might think is a stunning field only to find out that you've made a terrible, and potentially fatal, mistake. Besides their alarming size, pixie wasps have reinforced bird beaks that can deliver a vicious bite. For the 79th Hunger Games, Pixie Wasps have been modified to be gold instead of blue.
10 HP. No food classification. Not poisonous. Knife rolls.
Bread & Butterflies - (Petal Storm)
Despite all of the Capitol's incredible technology, there are people who long for simpler times. Most of these people don't know anything about what simpler times were actually like. Case and point: the concept of the bread and butterfly. The idea was certainly there. After all, what could be simpler than bread and butter? How lovely a thought to sit in a meadow with a picnic, butterflies all around, snacking on bread and butter. Hmmm... bread and butter... butterflies... hmmm... bread and butterflies. It was certainly an idea, but somewhere along the way simplicity was lost and a butterfly with edible wings of deliciously buttered bread was created. All that fluttering even keeps it warm, as if it were freshly baked. Mmmm.
N/A HP. Not poisonous. Classified as Small Game. No attack.
Gemstone Lurker - (Emerald Field, Cornucopia, Red Beach, Petal Storm)
The Gemstone Lurker was created by the Capitol as a form of camouflaged creature that they could use to survey the more mountainous areas of Panem. It's eyes appear to be made of diamonds, and the creature is of a reptilian form, resembling a large lizard or some sort. Its red scales resemble small rubies, which creates the 'gemstone' part of the name. The creature has sharp claws that are of a rather significant length, as it was meant to be able to defend itself should it be discovered during surveillance. At one time, its gemstone eyes were cameras, prepared to zero in on rebels that stepped into its path. The Gemstone Lurker, as its name suggests, lurks below ground, covering itself with dirt until someone passes by. If someone passes by that it detects as an 'intruder', it uncovers itself and attacks.

30 HP. Not poisonous. Knife rolls, blunt rolls (one each every turn).
Dragoyle - (Cloud Spire, Emerald Field, Cornucopia)
Roughly the height of a medium-sized dog--not counting the extra few feet of spiraling markhor horn--Dragoyles are nevertheless surprisingly easy for the eye to skim over. They rarely need to eat and spend most of their time standing nearly-motionless sentry, their sticky toes holding them fast and their mottled black and brown skin blending in with the stone of the buildings they most often guard, making them easy to mistake for lizard-like gargoyles until it’s too late. By the time you’re close enough to catch their eyes tracking you, you’re probably close enough for them to have bared gleaming teeth and charged.
35 HP. Not poisonous. Not edible. Knife rolls (teeth), blunt rolls (horns).
Greatest Fairy Armadillo - (Emerald Field, Petal Storm, Catacombs)
Among their fans, Greatest Fairy Armadillos are prized for their beauty. The most enthusiastic hobbyists pour money into gems to offer them; driven to add new stones to their armor as they grow the way hermit crabs are driven to seek new shells, Greatest Fairy Armadillos aren't picky, but their owners often choose opals and quartz to suit their naturally pink armor and iridescent skin. Hobbyists with less patience, money, or both tend to wonder what the point is, when Greatest Fairy Armadillos are timid creatures who spend most of their time underground anyway. Brought to the Games primarily for aesthetics, the Greatest Fairy Armadillos found in the Arena are a few feet long but just as shy as their domestic siblings; if they fight, it's out of fear, not aggression—not that tributes are likely to care much for the distinction when the claws that make them such graceful burrowers turn to digging through skin.
25 HP. Not poisonous. Not edible. Knife rolls.
Flying Diplomoceras - (Emerald Field, Petal Storm, Red Beach, Cloud Spire, Cornucopia)
Streamlined and strange, a relic of a bygone era granted new life, a marvel of science as at home in the sky as in the ancient sea that once bore them, Diplomoceras volatus looks like nothing so much as a two-meter-wide paper clip with leathery wings. A bright-eyed, tentacled face pokes out from the end of the longest segment of the shell, and like many modern cephalopods, a flying diplomoceras can often be found using those short tentacles to examine unfamiliar objects or manipulate simple tools. This curiosity and cleverness, combined with their speed and sturdy shell, makes them effective predators. Although their radula is poorly suited to tearing large food, they only have three real weak points—the gaps where their face and wings extrude from the shell—and they know it. Fortunately for most of their neighbors, they prefer insects and small crustaceans to the trouble of using their own bodies to batter more challenging prey. Usually.
30 HP. Not poisonous. Not edible. Blunt rolls.
Mirrorhound - (Cornucopia, Emerald Field, Cloud Spire, Red Beach, Catacombs)
With the altered DNA of a wolfhound and a creature which has not been disclosed, this hound stands about four feet tall at its smallest, posing a menacing threat to any tribute who has the misfortune to meet it. It gets its name from the shimmering quality of its pelt, which resembles the fragmented shards of a mirror. Rich gray skin peeks out through the cracks, and if you were to touch the hound, you would find that its skin is cold under your fingertips. Are they scales? Some kind of protective shell? The Capitol won’t divulge, just as they won’t hint at what else makes up its genetic code. These are social creatures; they thrive in packs and form strong bonds with one another, and solitary hounds can become lonesome and even more aggressive. They belong with their family, and will fight desperately for their survival in order to get back to them. Just like you.
40 HP. Not edible. Not poisonous. Knife rolls.
Contest Winners
Wadjet - (Emerald Field, Petal Storm, Red Beach, Cloud Spire, Cornucopia)
Ranging from 15ft-25ft in length, a Wadjet is a gilded white serpent-avian mutant made of feathers and scales that boast golden markings, a holographic sheen when reflected upon and crystalline blue eyes. These beasts have wings rotating all around its frame, using all to fly. They have elaborate tail feathers, extending towards its end with a crest crowning the skull. As a symbol of the Capitol and Panem, citizens could briefly peer in the sky to find the all-seeing Wadjet above. Wadjets can duo as either a flashy chariot entrance of officials or for watchdog messengers of the sky. Poisonous fangs, located in the jaw and underneath its sharp beak, and sheer strength offer protection of their packages and tamer. However, their notorious temperament would force an earlier retirement. Taming the beasts proved difficult, as Wadjets have a mind of their own. Early uses often reported Wadjets flattening their wings and diving into the water while flying over District 4 to cool off their bodies from the heat. Like anacondas, they can swim and hold their breath for up to twenty minutes.

40 HP. Poisonous. Classified as Large Game. Knife rolls (beak)
Petalin - (Petal Storm)
The Petalin, when remaining still, could be easily mistook for a most glamorous flower. Unlike their speedy counterparts, Petalin rely mostly on wind to glide them to and fro, and also rely more on camouflage to get their next meal. They wait for something to draw near before enveloping it within their sweet-smelling petals and injecting it with their poisoned bite. It has been noted that the wind blowing through their wings sounds like a reed instrument, high and shrill and melodic.

12 HP. Poisonous. Not edible. Knife rolls.
Pixie Pincers - (Red Beach)
Specifically designed to camouflage on the Red Beach, Pixie Pincers are tiny crabs with red shells who migrate and move as one large swarm. You could fit up to 5 of these little guys in the palm of your hand and on their own are relatively harmless. Some have been sold as pets in the Capitol to hype up the next Quell, however regulations have been enforced on sellers and breeders to not to sell or store more than six Pixie Pincers per household. This is due to the fact the little guys have been created to act as a pack, swarming and piling on top of each other to create one angry muttation transformer type thingy. They will attack when their swarm is threatened, becoming increasingly difficult for tributes to evade on the beach as they bled into the blood-red shore. If you feel a crunch beneath your feet, it's best you start running as fast as you can.

Blisserwhelp - (Cornucopia, Petal Storm, Emerald Field, Cloud Spire, Red Beach)
A larger sized commercial mutt, these tamed Flemeth-cousins were created through Petelia Quartz's need for a trolley alternative in her mutt-zoo. Originally doted to be a heavenly transport alternative, these humble, frilly wyverns were docile in personality and only utilized offensively in the Quartz's mutt fighting rings. No worries, it's completely humane! Sorta. These mutts are genuinely lazy in their approach, and have only been known to harm capitolites when in search of food. This said, when provoked as most mutts in the arena are, who knows what they're capable of. Surely not Ms. Quartz, but alas, they do be kinda cute though!
