The interviews had come and gone and Meredith had found herself watching them all last night. Honestly, she hadn’t expected anyone to really stand out, but half an hour in as her eyes lids had grown heavy Terra Markov had walked onto the stage. Now, Meredith hadn’t paid the girl much attention, finding herself grabbing for another cookie as she yawned, forcing herself to stay awake.
Honestly, she should have gone to sleep two hours ago, but the emptiness of the apartments they’d been given made it hard to sleep. She was used to hearing the sounds of thirteen other kids around her, the creak of wooden floorboards as children snuck around at night.
“Two couldn’t even get a two.”
It had only been the start of insults flung her way as Terra had proceeded with her interview.
Meredith had skipped breakfast, finding herself marching her way down to the training center with speed and drive that hadn’t been present for one moment over the past two weeks. She was on edge, and every insult that Terra had thrown her way during her interview had been another knife pressed into her chest, pushing deeper and deeper.
Killian would tell her to ignore the anger, she didn’t need to make any enemies. Victor would have told her to try and kill her before the games even started and Octavia would scold her for not keeping her head. Meredith was just pissed that someone so smart hadn’t figured out that she was not as dumb as she was pretending to be.
She walked right up to Terra, tapped her on the shoulder, and as the girl went to turn Meredith swung a fist into her face.
“Add my one onto your nine and maybe you’ll be as good as Emmett.” She took a step back, “oh wait, but that’s impossible, people would actually have to like you.”
