Thorne Pack

They are survivors, the runts of their litters picked precisely for that reason. They are the ones who did not die despite the odds. In their eyes, illuminates a fire of ferocity humankind can only quantify as one thing: absolute animal instinct.

The pure predators. 

All that exists is the inkling of life. Growls and whimpers whisper from the permanent darkness seeping through the concrete shell of the underground. There is another sound, the equivalent of Hell. Human voices fall freely from the shadows beyond where the pack's teeth can reach. Amid the fear, there is only one other emotion that can survive in the shadows. 

Hatred for humanity. 

That's when the light floods in and the sound of paws pierces the morning mists. There is no hesitation as the early rays ignite the mirrorhounds' pelts. The scent of another pack, a human pack, has earned their attention. 

Harbor
the elder

He was the first. Born blind, his siblings ostracized him. Early on, the fight for food was too fierce for Harbor to handle. Yet as his eyes ebbed, his strength sharpened. He learned to force his way to his Mother. Learned to bite until he tasted the metallic tint of blood from his siblings. Their squeaks were the sounds the came with his survival. He was the first picked for the pack.

Old and elderly, he spent most of his years in a cage. The old hound waited in a world that he could never even watch, only hear decaying around him. He grew impartial to the pain of life, uninterested in anything beyond the barriers the humans built around him. Then he was placed in the pack, a family bound together by brutality. 

Amid the forest of freedom, Harbor leads the way through the myriad of mist. His sharp sense of scents directs them to the demons of the world. For years he has waited for the taste of human blood.

Mackenzy
the youngster

The newest addition to the pack of pain. Almost as though doused in innocence, Mackenzy was a small mirrorhound pup. Pushed past and often left for little to survive off of, he learned to live off of very little. Resourcefulness became the bounty of the young hound's life. He found strength in the spaces others of his species never even noticed. Out of three Thorne hounds, he is the most protective of his family. He may seem small, but when his brothers are bleeding he is deadly.

As Harbor leads, he is fast to follow. The scent is strong and Harbor never is wrong when his nose is the guide. So when the hounds find the humans, Mackenzy is the first to fight alongside Harbor. This isn't for revenge, it's for protecting those important to him.

Mase
the heart

One would never guess that Mase had never been a runt. His broad build and looming stature makes him easily the largest Thorne in the pack. However, as a young pup he was indeed bound by the same fate as his brothers. Yet Mase was graced by the gifts of Death. Felled by disease, his entire litter died. He was left as the single survivor with a bounty of milk exclusively for his endless hunger. However, the loss of his siblings never left the gentle giant. His heart is just as large as its frame. 

When Harbor flies into the fight with Mackenzy in tow, Mase holds for a moment on the perimeter. He is a shadow standing on the outskirts of survival. Despite the cage, despite the anger, he does not hate the humans. However, his family is that of mirrors and fur and he must do as the pack does. With a lone howl stretching towards the sky, the giant moves to strike. Yet all he can really think about is what he is going to have for dinner tonight. Maybe these humans.
