you and me, and a bottle of tequila . kiah . blitz

She fights a yawn, her eyes tearing, her mouth struggling against the urge to just rip it open and to succumb to her bodies desire. But after another moment she gives in, sucking in a huge huff of air as the relief of the action washes over her. Damn, I was tired. Mouth closing she shakes her head, forcing herself to focus. The effects are short lived, her mind kissed by the temptation of taking a well deserved nap-

“Evieeeee,” a sing song voice that she would recognise anywhere chases away the temptation. Evie almost finds herself pouting, she could have gone for a nap. Her friend, oblivious to her sleepiness, chats on telling her about plans they were going to embark on that night. “Me and you, a bottle of tequila, and a beach party." Lips twisted up in a cheeky grin she looks up at her threw battered eyelashes.

There would be no escaping this one, she thinks that glint of determination that shone in her friends eyes was a beacon. A beacon that screamed: The only answer I will be accepting is YES.

“Whadaya say?”

Evie rolled her eyes at Darla, closing her lockers as she leaned back against it. She had planned to have an early night, this mornings training having cooked her. But as she looked at Darla, and that devilish grin she knew that there was no way on the face of this earth that she would accept that excuse. If she wanted to or not, she would be dragged along to that beach, surrounded by her friends, booze and a bonfire.

To most this would be appealing, but Evie hated social events. Her ability to speak full coherent sentences seemed to disappear in large groups and she is left stumbling over her words.

But maybe, just maybe, she should push her boundaries.

And just maybe, if she agreed now, then she would have time for a nap.  

"O... Okay. I'll go," she says, rolling on the lockers to face Darla and her face which danced with surprise. "Surprise, I can be spontaneous, you know, sometimes," she teased.

Tonight she would let go of her control. Step outside her comfort zone- after a much deserved siesta.

Suddenly Evie face is sandwiched between Darlas hands as her friend exclaims her surprise. “Who the fuck are you and what have you done to my best friend?” She asked, searching Evie's eyes for the girl that she had known most her life, not this stranger that seemed to be standing before her. Tempted to whack away her best friends hands, she smiles, immensely enjoying the look of shocked that danced on Darlas face.

It was not easy task for Evie to truely shock her. Having known each other most our lives, it was hard to do something that would genuinely cause the other to take a second glance. Usually Darla was the one doing the surprising. Always having Evie on the edge of her seat, ready to step in if things went too far.

She was genuinely surprised about how much she liked the feeling of satisfaction that surged through her at her friends reaction. It was her turn to keep Darla on her toes. Confusion Blossoms on Darla's face, hands slipping from her face, eyeing her suspiciously. She didn't believe her. It's was too easy, she must be thinking as they stood in comfortable silence, watching students and teachers pass up and down the halls around them.

Siren blares and Darla turns to her, pouting, mumbling about Evie ruining her fun. Arms folding themselves dower her chest she leads them down the hall to their next class. Evie clasps her books in her hands whacking them on her friends head playfully. "Quit your sulking," she huffs moving to walk beside her. "Its not a good look. You look like one of those children who just got told they weren't allowed to have dessert after dinner."

Entering the she takes a seat at one of the tables at the back of the room, Darla taking the spot beside her. "And yes, I can be spontaneous. Im a true jack in the box, fucking unpredictable," she grins, rolling her eyes. Darla was right, most of the time Evie was more predictable than the sun rising each morning.

Suddenly the humour evaporates from Darlas face, worry taking its place. “Is something wrong? You trying to run away from something?” She asks quickly. A frown knits Evie brows, her head tilting to the side. Was she running away from something? Quickly she thinks back over the last couple days, there was nothing in particular that stuck out. She did remember watching how easily Darla was able to move throw a crowd, smile plastered to her face, eyes turned her way- adoring and enthralled by her. She remembered thinking how nice it would be to be able to smile and talk and joke, to have people look at her like they did her and break into laughter.

She remembered thinking how she wished she could be more like her friend. Less like who she was, hiding away from crowds unless it was crowds chanting her name as she challenged an opponent in the ring.

But to her relief Darla pushes the question aside, her usually grin slipping onto her lips as she pushes open her book, eyes turning to Evie. “We’ll get there at nine," Perfect, Evie thinks, opening her books quickly, plenty of time for a nap! She could feel the return of weariness, its seductive caresses at her mind tempting her to place her sleepy head on the desk. To allow her eyes to drift shut, to be carried away from an hour as the teacher drawled on and on about maths, and equations.

Evie fucking hated maths. How was maths going to help her in the feature? She had no plans to become an engineer or anything like that. But alas the subject was compulsory. She had no choice but to attend and have her mind numbed by a voice that sounded like nails running down a chalk board.

"Oh and-” The tone of Darlas voice drags her from her thoughts. The playful note emphasised by a lazy wink thrown in her direction, she winked, "wear your bathers; the sexy ones.” Evie returned her grin, knowing exactly which ones she was talking about. Whilst Evie may be shy in terms of talking and interacting with others, she knew that she had a rocking bod, she knew that she could turn eyes, for a moment, before she ducked her gaze away shy, stumbling over words.

But tonight she would wear them with the same confidence she did in the ring.

Well, she would try her best.

Knowing eyes turn to her friend. "Darla, please try and keep your clothes on long enough for me to get a few drinks down." She knew her friend very well, and knew that any chance to take her clothes off and to have a good time, she would be keen. Evie usually the one chasing after her, picking them up and reminding her to be careful. But not tonight.

It was Evie's turn to roll her eyes as Darla promised that each drink would lead to Darla becoming more exposed to the people of district four. Evie was used to Darla's confidence, she was pretty sure that most people in their year had seen the girl naked and one point or another.

The teacher grunts in our direction, an angry gaze sweeping over the chatty duo. “He really like needs to get laid,” Darla whispers and Evie nearly chokes on the mouthful of water she had just taken from her bottle. "Darla!" she whispers, hoping the teacher could not hear the rest of Darla's crude remark. "You're lucky he's an old man," she mumbles, flipping open the pages of her notebook.

As soon as the bell rings Darla as her arm looped threw Evie's, pulling her through the hall. “Come on, come on, hurry up, Evie,” she demands, ignoring the yawn that dances on her lips. Evie wondered how much time she had before they had to start getting ready, trying to determine the length of the nap that so desperately followed her down the streets of the district.

But suddenly Darla swings in front of her, speaking fast and excitedly. “There are dresses you need to wear- and I want to do your makeup!” Ugh she mons inwardly, she forgot about the dresses and the make up and the hours of prep Darla usually put in before she saunters into the street ready to take on the world. With each syllable that fell from her lips she could see her nap getting shorter and shorter until it was no longer possible.

“Oh, Evie!”

Oh no.

“You’ll let me do your makeup, right?” Evie knew just as much as Darla that this was a remark and not a question, so Evie nods, pulling her lips into a smile. "Nothing too dramatic, okay?" She begs, knowing that it would fall upon unhearing ears.

"Any boys- or ladies- you have your eye on tonight?" She asks as she fishes for the house keys, unlocking the door, she opens it for Darla.
