He's been expecting a visit from Hyram Mae ever since the funding came in.
It's why he's been tapping his foot in his office at the clinic, fingers drumming on the table while we waits. It's nice, minimalistic but comfortable, not too flashy but just enough flaunting to impress any potential investors. It's not that the clinic needs it per say - it's just a competitive business.
Alaric isn't a very sentimental man, but there's a family photo on the desk and the mug that Blake painted when he was seven nestled between a few books on the shelf. If he looks hard enough he can still see Kiera playing in the corner, spending the afternoon with him as he finished up the last of his work. His children don't seem to want to spend nearly as much time with him now that they've grown, but he has the campaign to focus on now anyways, and he knows he can't push them.
Right now though, he has Hyram to focus on, and when Clara lets him into the office, Alaric can't help but sit up a little straighter. He knows that Maggie has some type of business with them, and he can't say he's exactly surprised. You'd have to look far to find someone out of the Mae's reach.
"Mr. Mae." He stands and clears his throat, trying not to look too nervous. "I have to… thank you, for your endorsement."
"It means a lot." He offers a hand to shake then, feeling quite like a rabbit in a fox's den, "Can I get you anything? Tea? Coffee?"
