Octavia Strauss --
She was half tempted to just ask for them to give her thecrowntitle already. It was honestly a waste of time to get her to pretend to care, she had better things to do, plans to build and enact. Like any good little leader, she needed to pamper the crowds and call to their needs and make them all feel warm and fuzzy inside. How boring.
“Thank you so much for coming out here today,” she waved to the crowd, one hand holding onto the microphone as her smile stretched across her lips. Her cheeks were already aching from all the fake smiling, but she persisted, just like any queen would, unafraid of a little suffering for a good cause.
“And,” she looked at her competitor, his name a blur in her mind as she tried to reach for it, “to my fearsome, but brilliant rival, I wish you the best of luck!” I hope you die.
She turned back to the crowd, smile dropping, her other hand resting on the microphone. Her gaze peered into the crowd, looking at them all there, listening to every word she said.
“Too long our district has sat in the shadows of one and four. Under our past leader, the pride, integrity and strength of this district have suffered. It’s time that changed.” She pulled the microphone free, stepping forwards, moving to where the crowd was, showing them that she was speaking to them, standing here for them.
“We need strong leadership, we need children who can stand up in the games and bring back the glory of our home. I will work hard to make sure that is no longer a fading memory, but an attainable goal that strikes fear back into the hearts of the other districts. We need to stop looking like fools, we are proud, we are strong, we are the best district in all of Panem.”
The crowd cheered, roaring with her as she finished that last sentence. Octavia looked at them, embraced them with her gaze, shook the hands of individuals that reached for her as she moved amongst the crowd.
“I am that leader. I have shown that I am a capable and strong person this district can trust. My actions speak louder than these words. I have forged the heart of this district, cared for almost thirty orphans. Many of you know me -the face that helps children in need of a loving home. I have worked within this community my entire life. So-”
She turned, looking at each and every face, a smile on her lips as she spoke. “Put your faith in me, because I know I won’t let you down. You can ask anyone I know. Let’s make District Two great again.”[ thread is open to others posting and asking questions! ]
