Pierre Hope could choke.

When the man surprised his mother for a visit to their home, Oz didn't care enough to make his presence known. Instead, he sat in the opposite room with a novel between his fingers, the sun glittering through the room as he contemplates what to do. His mother and Pierre were running head to head; the Hope family torn up once more making him smile a little brighter. Chaos was better than just the bitter silence of the quiet Hope family reunions. Escaping to Birdie's was going to be much harder than expected, at least there he doesn't have to listen to his uncle and mother drone on and on about stupid politics and how nothing will ever change.

Kids die. Adults cry. It's the cycle that never ends, where a system of fuckheads continues to do all they can. Oz Hope didn't care about it anyways. Finding out he was reaped made him laugh even more when Ike O'Nyle gave up his life for another boy, desperate to be the martyr. Fingertips tap lightly at his book, until he sets it down, planning to sneak out to whoever's house he could get to, whether it was another party or Birdie's to escape the dreaded election.

"Ozaias, how are you doing kid? Are you keeping out of trouble?"

Kid? As if Pierre Hope could be any older than he already was, trying to fit in with the kids. A sigh falls from his lips as he turns to his uncle, the first words slipping from his lips instantly with more bite than he realized. "It's Oz, not Ozaias." Trouble is all he ever got into, but his mother didn't need to know of his secrets, despite the fact they'll be out there for everyone to see already. Election be damned, he really just didn't give a shit. "Trouble always seems to find me." Shifting onto his right foot, he leans into the lack of care before he continues.
