As plans are being drawn up for the District Four tribute memorial, Isobel decides to visit some of the recent tributes' families personally to receive their input.
The Letos are her first stop. Perdita was a fierce Career, a tribute that Isobel was almost certain would take the crown. She was very disappointed to see District One triumph over Four. One's Career are the most lethal, but someday Isobel hopes that District Four will hold that position instead.
Perdita Leto is also the tribute to whom Isobel owes Arie's life. She has never said this to her nieces or nephew, but she was relieved when Perdita took Arie's place. Isobel has already watched two other Krigels die, and her own girlfriend. She regards the Hunger Games as simply another part of their world, though it is an ugly one. Isobel was a Career, and now an instructor; she understands the culture, the drive to enter the Games. But that aside, she does not want to lose someone else. She has lost so much in her short years of life.
Isobel knocks on the door of the Leto's house, and it is answered by Calypso, their surviving daughter.
"Miss Leto," Isobel greets her, "I was wondering if I may have a moment of your time." She assumes that Calypso knows who she is; the election has been all the talk of District Four.
