Isobel has invited her nieces and nephew over for dinner at her house. Arie is the first the arrive, with Indi and Leonidas on their way from the academy.
She's sitting down with her niece on the couch in the living room. They warm themselves by the fireplace, which crackles as it burns the logs that her husband gathered from the lumberyard.
"Arie," Isobel says, "This mayoral election, I'm running against your grandmother." She watches Arie closely for her reaction. Luckily, Indi took to the news well, but she isn't sure how the other two triplets will feel.
"But don't feel like you need to take sides. I know it's... an awkward situation," she adds thoughtfully.
