Diamond's heart seems to know no pause, it races as though trying to beat the electricity that buzzes through justice building's walls. In only moments, she will take to the stage not only to stare down the entire district, but to stare at the biggest mirror in her life. She has spent days scratching over her speech, searching for something to say stronger than how she feels. But she knows she doesn't need absolute strength, all she needs is to share the heart beat that's within her. Let the District hear what her heart has to say of tomorrow.
They come for her.
Underneath the blinding lights, Diamond's blonde hair beams brilliantly. So many faces are staring at her, looking towards her false halo with a question of why. Why would they want to listen to her? Diamond takes a deep breath before finally letting her voice out into the microphone and out across all the ears angled towards her.
"District Three. It is the city of light and the beacon of progress in Panem. Others look towards us for innovation and we provide it along with inspiration. However, there is also the unsung stories of District Three. The ones that rise up from those that suffer in the shadows of its light. I have seen them in my life, lived inside of them. They do not make you feel very inspirational. But that's why we must change, evolve beyond what we already are."
Diamond takes a second to catch her breath and to stand up a little straighter. Inside of her chest, her heart starts to settle into her sentences.
"I want to push past the current and into change. I have plans, goals for us to achieve. First, our factories, including the ones I own, have become too corporated. There are those who work in our factories that have no homes to even go to. What I am proposing is a program that will make large factories transform part of their space into affordable living for their workers. Furthermore, this will be the doorway to a project with District Seven where in exchange for expert carpenters to build the new apartments, we will offer new jobs for District Three in Seven helping them with technological updates around the District. With the increased revenue I come to my second main goal, mental health is something I have dealt with my entire life. I live with PTSD and anxiety everyday and personally know that our District needs to improve in the care it provides for all aspects of health. I plan to update all our health care systems during my term if elected."
Diamond takes one last moment of pause before her final sentences.
"I want a District Three that looks out for everyone, not just those in the light, but those in the shadows as well. We can be a better and healthier District if we opt to choose change. Thank you all."
