Her father taught her how to shoot a gun as soon as she could hold a pistol properly. She was seven when he took her out to the backyard for target practice on bottles hanging from a clothesline. Trace is far from the best in the family — arguable, she is the worst — but she thinks herself the coolest in her grade for her skills with a gun. She is far from modest, always puffing out her chest with pride, because her grandfather was a Victor, because she's tougher than most kids and can throw a hard punch.

Hubris is a fatal flaw, but Trace thinks she is right to have such an inflated ego. She has much to be proud of. Trace has a big ego, but she has a big heart, too. She has a lot of compassion for others, and wants to become a nurse to help the less-fortunate in District Nine. There's not a lot of healthcare. She idolizes one of the nurses, Ken Nuan, and wants to dye her hair pink so she'll look like her, once her mother says she's old enough.

Trace almost always gets what she wants; all she has to do is bat her big brown eyes at her parents, and they will give in nearly every time. It's why she has collected about a dozen stray cats. She finds them when she goes to town, or when she walks home from school, and she can never resist scooping them up and bringing them back home.

Her siblings must be groaning internally every time a new pet is added to her expansive collection, but no one seems to have the heart to tell her to stop.
