My father saw me looking, rolled his eyes

Because later that night he put me in a hot bath,
so hot I thought I was melting on the outside too.
said my vices would disappear if my nerve endings forgot
what it was like to feel.

But I still wanted you then and through the steam
I saw you with that pink hair.
"Cream in that?" you'd asked,
there'd been a laugh in your voice.

He put lashes on my hands,
it's why I took so long to come back, I swear that's why.
I went to the yellow room again to find you
