There is a special kind of peace in steel. In the sound of it cutting the air. In the weight of a weapon in your hand and the ache that runs through your muscles. I was born into the world of metal and flesh. Of warriors. From the time I could walk I was pushed through drills, knocked around with blunted practice swords, and planted in front of the television to absorb everything I could.

I was born for the Games and I know no other life.

The Devonwoods have no need for a victor. Our family does well enough selling custom made jewelry to Capitol stylists that the winnings would be another drop in a lake. It's the status my parents crave the most. The title of Victor. The house in the little village of winners. Our name on banners, melted into gold, strung around necks and hanging from flagpoles.

Devonwood Jewels are the finest creations made by humans, and so am I.
