Anthem - Day Four

The night is bitterly cold.

It feels different, somehow. Sharp, angry, biting, as if punishing you, and you can imagine why. The snow is still far too white, the Arena too pristine. There was a sense of wonder up until now, but as the evening continues, dark and ominous, it warns that something awaits in the shadows. It promises that peace, however blissful, cannot last. Not when there is a crown to be won.

Clouds blot out the stars and the moon, parting only when light flickers throughout the Arena and up in the sky. Even the performance, however, feels dull and haunting. When you tilt your head back to watch, it only confirms what you already suspected.

There are no faces in the sky tonight.

The light and color fades quickly, leaving behind ink-black darkness and a distinct sense of foreboding. Whatever comes tomorrow, it cannot possibly be good.

23 more must die if you ever to leave this place.
