suffocator. greer & leo blitz!

Hammers and chisels have buried themselves in my skull, burrowing deeper with every heartbeat. Mornings are so much worse after late nights, laced with a scratchy kind of guilt. Sins stain so much deeper viewed through clear minds. I don't think slept too well, I usually don't when we're all gathered. Only a fool locks himself in with lions.

Maybe I'm still a little drunk because my lips are uncooperative as I give a groan of acknowledgement.

There's something about how she's standing here, teeth sunk into her bottom lip with obvious regret lining her every feature, that makes me terribly uncomfortable.

Uncooperative limbs are eventually coaxed into a half-sitting position. I've no idea how much of a mess I look but if the state of my living room is any indicator I've never looked better. "C'mon, what's with that face? Don't worry."

The pillow hits my shoulder and I swallow laughter. Soft and gentle until it sends a sharp pain lancing up my skull and my expression melts into a grimace. "Sorry," I'm glad someone had the sense to draw the blinds last night because I don't think that was me. I'm counting down the days, not exactly worried about planning ahead.

I catch something hiding under her words, a lingering malady that won't be settled by simply ignoring the fracture lines. The idea of actually holding a conversation is exhausting, but I don't like the uncertainty even more.

The water's gone too quickly, but it helps me feel a bit more alive. Breaths come easier and everything falls into reluctant focus. "Greer,"

I sit up fully, elbows coming to rest on my knees as I lean in to get a good look at her. "Thanks for apologizing, but what's eating at you?" It's not me. There's got to be another explanation for the way last night's shadow is clinging to her.
