Theophania Thandrek

Theophania had large dreams at the Academy. She knew as soon as she got out of District Two she had been eager to hit the ground running. What she didn't expect was to be in a constant state of boredom.

Despite her request to spent to one of the rowdy districts, she had been stationed in District Seven of all places. It was hotter here and nearly claustrophobic in the wooded areas. The air was constantly full of sawdust and she hated the screeching of saws.

The district was well controlled and it made her jittery. Her whole plan was to go to a rebellious district and help them take down the Capitol from the inside. Without a rebellion to help she was just a Peacekeeper. In Seven she was practically a small town sheriff telling the usuals to stop bickering and reminding people not to serve Dave past seven drinks.

It was a horribly boring existence.

Theophania slipped a finger between her neck and the high collar of her uniform. If she found the clothes constraining in Two they were unbearable in Seven's heat.

She stood at a dusty corner near the district square on patrol with one of the more bearable Peacekeepers stationed in Seven. She knew little about Blackwood but he wasn't quick to strike the citizens or scream at them for no reason. A low bar but few managed to cross it.

She paced around the corner, unable to hide her jitters, wearing a path in the concrete sidewalk. She'd been in Seven for three months and she already felt like she'd combust.

"Is it always like this?"

Seven is a quiet that takes time to get used to. Forests filled with greens and an internal heat that never quite leaves, Seven is filled with a peace that never quite breaks, but that's what made Seven perfect for him. The silence was better than the smell of gunpowder and rubber of Nine. Seven was filled with a peace that made his heart feel less broken than before, but he still keeps on patrol and only dares to say something if something is off.

A few hellos to passing citizens as he trudges through the district of trees and peace. A dull existence of nothing more than keeping the peace that resides in the people's minds. Two was nothing like Seven. Loud and always in people's faces about everything, but in Seven, it was almost eerily silent to a fault. Thandrek tugging at her collar from the heat as he smiles at the fact. The heat was much different compared to Two, but he also remembered the heat of Nine where smog resided and gangs broke out into violence always.

After another wave to the nice old woman known as Ms. Pryde to them, he can see Thandrek wearing out the concrete with her pacing. "Is it always like this?" A laugh echoes from his lips as he lets himself relax under the shade of a building as the sun continues to move across the sky. For a moment, he wants to play dumb and watch Thandrek suffer a little bit from her own boredom. Instead, he shrugs and smiles as he gives a response.

"Mostly, it's pretty peaceful in Seven."

Peaceful until sundown for the most part.

"A lot better than Nine is."

Despite herself she jumps with Blackwood laughs. She had been so focused on her own misery she had forgotten he could hear her.

"Mostly, it's pretty peaceful in Seven. A lot better than Nine is."

She paused in her pacing to look at him. He was older than her by a few years and had been a Keeper far longer. She'd been in all of two district hers entire life- Two and now Seven. Some of the Peacekeepers bounced around districts constantly carrying their stories back and forth.

This peaked her interest. She wanted an unpeaceful district- anything. She thought there would be work to do in Seven but the work was grueling enough that no one bothered to rebel. Nine was factory work. Mindless and boring with plenty of time at night to get into trouble.

"What's Nine like?" she said, moving to stand beside him. She didn't want to sound too curious but Blackwood didn't seem like a snitch to her. If anything she appeared a young cadet eager for action, nothing else. "Is it any fun?"
