"Camille," that's not her name, but I do it to annoy her. I wouldn't want her name in my mouth anyway, sour spat right back out in her face. A distraction from the panic in my chest, eyes darting straight to the things in my bag, to my hands, to hers. Red-handed, I want to cover them in her blood and press bruises into her throat but I'll do it wrong, I'm too messy, might kill the bitch.

Huh. Maybe that wouldn't be so bad. But I'm a thief, not a murderer, she knows it.

But I know a girl who can rip out hearts without flinching.

"You know Ripley Sloane? She's my friend." I've always loved a name-drop, claiming people as mine. "And let's just say that she doesn't take kindly to threats. Especially when they're pointed at her friends."

I think of the guns in the restaurant, wishing I had one now. Or not, my hands would shake too violently to pull the trigger.
