Two-Headed Albinogator (Sewage Lake)
Inspired by the iconic Jemma the Alligator from the 4th Games, the Two-Headed Albinogator lurks beneath the surface of the Sewage Lake. It hides from daylight due to its susceptibility to sunburn, protecting its near-translucent pearly white skin, but crawls ashore at night to hunt for dinner. With two heads comes two sets of sharp teeth, able to crush a tribute’s bones in one chomp. It also means this gator is twice as hungry, so think twice before attempting to feed the alligator a fellow tribute to satisfy its cravings.
Poison, Edible, or Neither? Neither.
35 HP
Luminous Bugs
Cocooned during a radioactive spill, these insects awoke from their slumber changed forever. Luminous bugs come in all shapes, colours and sizes, but all have one thing in common: they glow, especially during the dark. Wings, eyes and antennae have a neon tinge to them, harder to see during the day time but not impossible. They typically travel in swarms of their own species, and have been known to lead unsuspecting people to treasure or turmoil.
Poison, Edible, or Neither? Neither.
5 HP
Hawkeye (Cornucopia, Overpass, Glass Recycling Plant)
They stalk their prey from above, looming and ominous in the sky. If you spot a Hawkeye with its single eyeball wide open and un-blinking, best leave the area quickly. If its eye is staring right at you - run. As fast as you can. The giant bird stands at 9 feet tall, with fierce talons that can crumble brick in seconds. Its beak can puncture through metal, and its wingspan casts shadows across the arena, sending the beast soaring at breakneck speeds with a single flap of its wings. Once it finds its next victim, it won’t stop until it gets what it wants.
Poison, Edible, or Neither? Edible, Large Game. Must be cooked on fire before eating.
40 HP
Scorpione (Glass Recycling Plant, Overgrown Overpass, Sewage Lake)
The Scorpione was originally created to solve the Capitol’s sewage-rat problem of the 40s and 50s. When these creatures had finished eating all the rats they began to climb through toilet drains and stung the unsuspecting buttocks of Capitolites with their venomous stinger - causing the Capitol to exterminate all but a few pairs for breeding purposes. Roughly the size of a human head, their hardened exoskeleton makes killing them a difficult task. Having adapted to water, particularly that of sewage water, finding sanction in the lake won’t stop them from taking a swipe at you with their nasty pincers.
Poison, Edible, or Neither? Poisonous.
25HP
Tankard Two-Headed Rat (Cornucopia, Sewage Lake, Nuclear Waste Field, Overgrown Overpass)
This is not your average rat. The result of a cosmetics test gone wrong, the Tankard Two-Headed Rat is said to be the only breed of rodent to make Scorpione’s quiver with fear. Its body bulges with spasmed muscles, boasting a tail the length of a human arm. On its hind legs it can reach a tribute’s chest, with both of its heads’ enlarged molar teeth dripping with saliva and sticky, pink goo. Its fur is patchy and ragged, with two pairs of beady little eyes able to see in the dark. When it’s not fighting its other head for dominance it hunts for its next meal, burrowing through the dirtiest of settings for food - human corpses included.
Poison, Edible, or Neither? Neither.
35HP
MechaBytes (Throughout)
About the height of a grown man's hip, these wild dogs are not simply feral animals. Underneath their fur, exposed where skin has been shredded away, are robotic skeletons that control every movement of the animal. Strangely, the teeth haven't been replaced with more effective steel but instead left as natural within a steel skull. Originally, the mutts were well cared for and designed as high-level performance dogs that could be programmed to do any trick imaginable. Now, they’ve been directed to attack when they see anything that moves.
Poison, Edible, or Neither? Neither.
20HP
Fire Salamanders (Tire Fire)
Spending most of their time burrowed underground, you’d think that these lizards were looking to escape the heat. In actuality, Fire Salamanders have adapted to their surroundings and thrive in warm areas. Their skin can withstand heat higher than 300 celsius, with hardened shells protecting their feet in order to be able to walk across hot earth and dig holes. With razor-sharp claws, teeth and a tongue that burns on impact, it’s best not to give these guys an excuse to go above ground.
Poison, Edible, or Neither? Neither.
Attacks twice per roll with a fire roll. (One fire roll / One Knife roll)
15HP
CONTEST WINNERS:
Bobblehead Eel (Sewage Lake) - Credit to Dars
Named for the size of its massive head, the bobblehead eel's jaw seems only to close when it is gnawing onto prey. It's a fearsome sight, slithering through the murky water with its beady eyes glowing like putrid yellow light, but perhaps even more terrifying is when it stalks you. You think you're safe as you climb out of the water, and you're forced to watch as all three feet of it slither onto the ground behind you, poised to strike just like a snake. Even now, in these final moments before the end, you can see its fangs dripping with an amber-colored liquid that you can only assume is poisonous. Advice on beating this one? aim for the head.
Poison, Edible, or Neither? Poisonous
15 HP
Seelie (throughout) - Credit to Dars
You can't even begin to think of how these creatures were made. They're just... blobs of bright, glowing colors. They are formless, and feel gelatinous to the touch, and are completely harmless. Actually, quite the opposite. Once a Seelie finds a friend, it sticks with them and tries to help them to the best of its ability. That is, to say, they begin glowing more brightly when they sense treasure near, and for this particular arena, they begin to make sounds that sound reminiscent of an alarm- only much cuter- when the radioactivity levels go up. Should their friend die, the seelie will curl up next to its fallen pal and the light within it will go out forever, but should its friend live forever, well, the seelie will be bounding close behind.
Poison, Edible, or Neither? Neither
10 HP
Stag Cells (Nuclear Waste Field, Overpass, Oil Wells) - Credit to Dars
They always come in two's, and they always move as one. It's strange, like watching something dance with its reflection in 4D. It is said that these creatures are named for the cell division anomaly that creates them. Sometime during their pregnancies, the deer-like creatures divide themselves completely in half, but still seem to function as a single organism upon birth. They are also susceptible to a genetic fungus, which takes root at the base of their horns and causes flowers to grow from them. Ultimately, the most intimidating factor of these creatures is the sheer strangeness of them. But they do have sharp hooves and even sharper antlers, so don't underestimate them.
Poison, Edible, or Neither? Edible, must be cooked on fire before eating.
25 HP
The Hollow (Throughout) - Credit to Pogue
An extinct species of chimpanzee with translucent skin, allowing the bones of the creature to be seen with the naked eye. As with any other creature, it will attack if extremely provoked. However, The Hollow are naturally very docile, and can very easily be approached by any person as long as they are not hostile. Additionally, The Hollow is extremely interested in metallic objects, often collecting any metal objects it can get its hands on. If approached with a metal object, it will most likely willingly offer an object from its "stash" in return. However, some anomalies of The Hollow have been shown to merely take the offering and run off, offering nothing in return.
Poison, Edible, or Neither? Neither
15HP
Argus (Nuclear Waste Field, Oil Wells, Glass Recycling Plant) - Credit to Pogue
These mutated beasts, taking the form of a hulking, dark mass of flesh, have a distinct lack of eyes on its body, with the only one being found on a large patch of flesh that juts out from just above the right shoulder. This mass contains the creature’s only source of sight, and is believed to be closed almost all of the time due to extreme pain being felt when it is open. Although completely blind when its eye is shut, Argus remains a highly dangerous beast, especially when it periodically regains its eyesight.
Poison, Edible, or Neither? Neither
35 HP - attacks twice per turn, once with a blunt attack and once with a knife. Due to blindness, attacks randomly upon the start of the fight. Every other turn, the mutt will be able to “open” its eyes, allowing for it to target a specific tribute with both attacks.
Saw-Mouth Centipede (Throughout) - Credit to Kaplan
A laboratory mistake, these creatures are initially meant to be peaceful, large, and worm-like. The large and wormlike traits stayed, but they are far from peaceful. The intent was to have them as a displayed creature in Capitol zoos, but creating them went terribly wrong. Their jelly-like eyes cause them not to see well, so they don’t know what’s meant to be food and what isn’t, resulting in them using their many rows of razor sharp teeth to gobble down anything they can find to feed their seemingly never-ending hunger, including their own kind. Everything about them is a mistake, and they’re insanely bloodthirsty. They have thirty-two legs, four eyes, and are as big around as an oak tree. They can also survive in just about any habitat. Needless to say, they’re quite frightening.
Poison, Edible, or Neither? Neither
