She knows she should be grateful. Raised in the wealthy sector of District Eight, where rundown houses did not exist and markets bustled with peaceful activity - there were citizens who would kill to be in her position. Yet, her life is missing something, and she knows it.

A father figure, for one. He has another family and puts Miracle second, so she can't help but feel inferior to these absolute strangers. Her mother copes by pouring her soul and energy into the lingerie shop. It is her pride and joy - "we send orders to the Capitol," she exclaims happily. Then she nitpicks about Miracle's 'modelesque' body because she has ambitious dreams.

Well, Miracle has dreams of her own.

Instead of being the invisible, predictable blob, she does the opposite of what everyone wants. She sneaks out to parties, she makes herself known. She is loud, she is charming, she attracts an audience. It feels bizarre, because this is not really who she is. But it is nice to be somebody else for a change. She wants to be the person everyone remembers, because when she returns home, her father pretends she does not exist and her mother views her as a dollar sign.

What do they call it? Breaking out of her shell? Leaving her comfort zone?

Pretending to be something you're not?
