They lurked in the water, hours seeming to drift by. Waiting for anything to walk by, delectable morsels who take one step too far, one step closer into the trap. They were waiting to SNAP!- teeth closed onto a leg and pull prey, away from the eels that loved to get too close. They always mess it up, but not this time. Those heads of theirs don't have much brain, 'cos they'd stay away from Draco if they did. Draco would show them who the boss was.

The steps of prey spiked the attention, each footfall sending shoots of electricity through the inactive muscles, stomach's growling in excitement. Draco would eat, eat well. He lurched out, faster than the eels could of the sewage, aiming for the tastiest one.

Crabbe was waiting for his opportunity, his glowing eyes filled with ambition. Show Draco that he was the one worth keeping around, not Goyle. Crabbe would be his partner, eating all that passes through here. He heard the footsteps growing ever closer, mouth gaping open showing rows of perfectly sharp teeth ready to SNAP! closed on his deserved meal. He learnt that from Draco. As Crabbe pulled out of the lake ready to eat, he knew Goyle had no chance at being Draco's partner.

He'd had enough of Crabbe's attitude weeks ago, but they were stuck together, along with that Draco. Since then, Crabbe's got worse and worse. Wanting to show off every second. Goyle just stayed quiet and got ready, and as the footsteps grew nearer and nearer, the surface of the sewage shook and shake. This was his time to put an end to Crabbe's attitude. Goyle's mouth watered, and it was ready for anything to fill an empty stomach. He spotted with his glowing eyes the last one of the pack, and darted out of the lake for an easy meal.

I dread nightfall. The dimming light retreats over the horizon and shadows begin to advance in their place. Fear finds me as a cold hand on my chest, gripping and digging it's nails into my skin. Panic sets my breathing off-balance, and I choke on my words as I try to respond to something Saylor has asked me.

I feel Silk's eyes stabbing in my direction, measuring me up, as maybe she can begin to smell the stench of weakness on me. Careers have no time for frightened middle district girls who are too small and weak to do anything but die. I have to swallow my fear, or be cast out from the pack. So I swallow, and blink at Saylor.

"Huh? What did you say?"

I feel like an idiot with my mouth half open and my heavy eyes blinking in the dim. Saylor points to his nose, broken and bloody.

"I tried to fix it myself but..."

"Oh, yeah. Sure." I shuffle over to him.

I can't see too well in this light. A flat green hue washes over Saylor's skin, and black crusts of blood blot his skin - a twisting snake like a birthmark across his nose and upper lip.

"I've actually had this done to me, so I kind of know what I'm doing-" I say, stopping myself short as I realise I have next to none of the equipment that Ken did.

I received three injections of pain sedative directly into my face, one over my cheek, one above my upper lip, and lastly the most painful near the inside of my eye. It was to numb the nerves around my nose so the procedure would be relatively painless. A long metal splint was inserted up my nostril and the fractured pieces of my nose were re-aligned in a rather straightforward manner as Ken pinched the bridge of my nose and levered it back into position.

I look on the ground for a stick or something. No, that's stupid and unhygienic. This will have to be done more crudely.

I run my finger down the inside of his nose, just under his eye, until I find a hard edge where the nose is fractured. He winces as my thumb meets the rupture, and I scrunch my face up thinking about how he's going to have to experience this without any sedation.

"This will hurt like a bitch."

"Figure that's something I'll have to get used to, right?" His mouth stretches into a bloody grin.

You don't get used to pain, from my experience. You can take a thousand punches, the last one still hurts as much as the first. All these kids who tell you that pain makes you stronger, that it's just a platform to learn from, they've never experienced real pain.

You have to let it burn through you, and then get ready for the next hit - because it's coming. It's always coming.

I grip the bridge of his nose and yank to the right, a sharp snapping noise rings in my ears. He doesn't cry out, or moan - his clownlike smile melts into a grimace, and his eyes water, and then he's real quiet. He lets the pain burn through him.

It must have hurt a lot because he's quiet for a long time, letting the tears sit in his eyes unshed. The small, scruffy boy takes a few moments to collect himself, and then finally speaks again.

"I'm not great at advice but I'm good at listening. If you ever need that."

A shallow sigh slips from my lips, and there's something else there in my chest - guilt or futility? I'm not even sure any more.

"Thanks, but I'm not here for therapy." I break my gaze and stand up, walking back to my sleeping bag.

What am I here for? Guess we'll find out.

Sleep comes easier than I imagined, the faint glow of yellow insects the last thing I remember before Turner kicks my foot to wake me up. The Careers are fully in charge here - they've trained their whole lives for this and they know how best to plan the days effectively. I guess Saylor and I are just along for the ride.

So far we've heard no cannons, no deaths. I must have missed the anthem summarising but I overhear the others talk about it as we hike our way north towards the huge boiling lake. It absolutely stinks of death and rot and everything foul you could imagine - I'm suddenly not hungry anymore.

We approach the body of not-water, bubbling and alive. It looks acidic, like sticking your leg in would cause all the flesh on your bones to dissolve. I sure as hell am not gonna be the one to find out.

I turn my back for half a second, and there's a yell from behind me. I turn, and two huge pale reptiles have leapt from the toxic water and started attacking Saylor. Wait, no - that's one animal. One animal with two heads. I take a step backwards.

Two snakelike creatures then fly out of the water and launch themselves at the Careers. Their teeth sink into their flesh, and I drop my backpack as the leechlike muttations hang from my allies. I rummage through my haul and find the brass knuckles, rushing to slip them over my bruised knuckles. Fuck, hurry up. Fuck.

I look up, an eel is hanging from Turner's neck. I sprint over to him and swing my fist at my ally.

"FUCK OFF!"

And I punch the eel clean off his neck, sending it flying.

It's quiet and largely uneventful as the yellow haze of day gives way to night. There's a certain comradery already forming between Fridae and Saylor - which makes sense, the lower district kids always have more in common with each other than with Careers. Were you a different person in different circumstances, there might be just cause for a twinge of jealousy - but this is the Hunger Games. And right now, friendships and cliques are the last thing you need to worry about.

It could be a cause for concern should your alliance's longevity outlives its usefulness. Having a united front of Nine and Ten, each on their own perhaps not quite matching up to you but together a force to be reckoned with, when the foundation of your own counterpart in Turner having being built on tenuous ground at best, does not bode well.

But oh well. You'll burn that bridge when it comes to it - and that in itself is an event that remains a few days away.

You realize that you've been staring at Fridae as she and Saylor quietly talk amongst themselves in your absentmindedness, and as you blink back to reality, you risk another glance at Turner.

The dead fish plushie was unmistakable as to whom it was referring to. But what was the message that was being sent?

As night extends its dark reach, you find yourself drawn into a fitful, if uneventful, sleep.

The quiet is what is most memorable as you and your alliance make your way to a body of water - or, at the very least, a somewhat poor imitation of one - the next morning. Not a single cannon has sounded, not an uncommon occurrence in recent years, but one that adds an overlaying sense of tension in your shoulders regardless.

Each cannon that sounds means the death of one of your rivals, the slight increase of your chances of survival from one in twenty four to one in twenty three, twenty two, twenty one, and so on so forth. The same old narrative for everyone entering the arena with even an inkling of leaving it - it's as much a game of outlasting the rest as it is killing them yourself.

After all, there's never been a tribute who's killed more than a quarter of the rest of the arena with their own two hands. At the end of the day, it's as much luck as it is skill - and that, you cannot control.

Such as running into a pack of muttations. You have nary a second to shout out a warning before the ambush is complete - you see out of the corner of your eye something large and white lunge for Saylor, but you cannot focus on it, for another, smaller shape is flying directly towards you.

It's instinct that smacks the mutt out of the air, protecting your face and neck, with the beast's fangs sliding along your arm instead. Your heart thuds a mile a minute in your chest, eyes wide and mouth agape in surprise - there truly is a difference between being told that any moment could be your last in the arena and living it.

A half second slower, more lethargic reflexes, and it could have been your throat torn open by the mutt's fangs instead of your arm. The very thought sends an involuntary shiver down your spine - but paralyze you it does not, for you are Silk Le Roux, warrior trained and bred, and you never face down a potential adversary unprepared.

You whip your spear out from behind your back, watch as Fridae quite literally punches another one of the mutts off of Turner's own neck. The absurdity of the situation does not escape you as a chuckle escapes your lips, and you call out "Nice one, Drummond!" before at last focusing your full attention on your own mutt.

Out of the water, without the element of surprise, it really does look quite fragile. You smirk, a press of the button from yesterday once again sending arcs of electricity coursing down your weapon.

"Fry, fucker," you tell the mutt.

And then you stab.

I like how strange I sound with a broken nose, giggles clinging to every mangled syllable. Grown used to the taste of my own blood, it's nice to have something to laugh at. "Raaaahsperrees." I waste a couple of minutes repeating funny words under my breath until the pain has crept up past my eye sockets and nestled deep in my brain.

With grit teeth and little faith, I rest trembling fingers on either side of the tender skin. One beat passes, two more after that, but it's like I'm stuck in place. I can't remember how to move. Coward I call myself, giving in all the while. My hands fall in utter defeat and the pain keeps on eating me alive.

"Fridae do you know how to set a broken nose?" I search for her gaze on instinct, too late to realize the mistake I've made. It's fathomless, blank except for a familiar something that swims within. I don't try to recognize it. That feels like a terribly invasive thing to do.

"Huh? What did you say?"

It's safe to stare at the space behind her head, so I do just that. "I tried fixing it myself but..." Again with the polite smiles that have no place here. Black sheep are so easy to hunt and I'm all dark wool. But that's no secret is it? Be it pity or amusement or something darker, no one here's stupid enough to think I'm long for this world.

That hurts a bit. I don't want to die.

I step closer to Fridae, nodding along to her words while barely grasping their threads. I know it'll hurt, everything is going to hurt from now on. "Figure that's something I'll have to get used to, right?" Smiling to swallow spite, until there's no room upon upturned cheeks for anything else.

It all goes a bit blurry after that. Hot and cold, too much to comprehend all at once. I can't think of what it was like to live before this pain and for one, terrifying moment I'm not sure I'll ever know that again. This is never-ending agony, sharp as the needles prickling behind my eyes and then-

I can breathe again.

Yeah, I'm never getting used to that.

Some garbled hum escapes me in the place of thanks rushing ahead of my better judgement and riding an endorphin high as I mumble, "I'm not great at advice but I'm good at listening." I think of her expression when I called out to her and I know I'll never be enough, "If you ever need that."

She says she doesn't. Of course she doesn't.

Fridae Drummond isn't the weak link.

I'm still half asleep when they come for us, as we steal through the dawn like lost wishes. I'd spent a good deal of time at the mutt station, there was something comforting about being around things made up of instinct. Without judgement or honeyed words I don't know how to trust.

They want to kill us, there's no hidden motive or humanity in those beady eyes. It should be easy.

"I can do this." Too quiet for even my own ears to catch. The grip on my spear's hilt is just a little too tight. I've learned that keeps me from shaking, at least until adrenaline fills my head with that happy buzzing. Wonderful and numb when all that matters is staying alive.

I don't speak before I strike, I'm too scared of fucking up.

Some of the others from home used to get nightmares, their screams on excursion nights became familiar reminders of their fear. I never understood the concept really, being scared of some shit inside of your own head. My mind is a fucking mess already and if that doesn't scare me then some fake face with a knife isn't gonna get me going. Like go ahead, rip me limb from limb imaginatively. I do that to myself when I'm awake anyways.

The sound of Softie boy Saylor's mumbling is all I hear from the little roost I've mad atop some rock, or maybe a trash heap, I really have no idea. Just a couple feet below he is all snuggled up next to Red Head Firey Fighter Fridae. I can't imagine what kind of sentimental stories they are sharing, but I recognize where Fridae's fingers are going immediately. My teeth tighten and I turn my eyes, cold and empty mirrors of myself, up towards the sky.

"That's gonna hurt like a bitch."

I mumble to myself making an unamused face at the moon's lazy yellow eye.

Pop.

I shudder a little, yea that hurt.

The sobbing I'm all but certain I'll hear never catches my ears and I even turn my eyes back down towards the ground only to see them silently slipping down Softie's face. Something in my stomach shifts. I remember the first time I stayed silent when I cried. The first time I bottled up a scream and turned it into absolute nothingness. Something about that little Softie doing the same thing doesn't feel right. I feel the back of my teeth grinding together. But for the second that feeling is there, it's gone again. Back to the game of nearly reaching the surface for air, but only finding a wave waiting.

Like a pair of daggers, two eyes catch my attention. It's only for a second, but it's there. What the fuck are you looking at Silk? It's not like I'm the one named after a fabric. But screw it, let her stare all she wants. I shoot her a short wink if she is still looking out of the corners of her eyes. She knows as well as I do that sooner or later these stares and winks will turn into screams and spears. How wrong is it of me to wonder what the sound of her screams will be like? Not yet though, we both know we need each other especially after losing earlier today. For now the winks can stay, people always like me more when I'm winking than making them bleed anyways.

I don't wake up for the Anthem, but I find myself the only one awake just before dawn. As far as I can see, which isn't much cause I definently need to look into getting a pair of glasses at some point, no one is planning to pop a sword into any of us. So I slip out of my next and walk a couple yards away with my warhammer. I don't know, I guess I just need some space. Who would have thought I'd be around more people in the arena than I have been most of my life?

My gaze drops down to the hammer in my hands and I stare at the metallic reflection. I know there's a boy there, I can see his blonde hair and his ocean eyes, but at the same time I see nothing. An empty slate of metal with nothing to see. One of my hands rises to the red bandages wrapped around my abs. The subtle pain of my touch reminds me that at the very least, they see me.

I snort.

"You fucking bitch."

I whisper to myself.

...

Back at the camp, I send a foot unapologetically into Fridae to wake her up. Her eyes meet mine and I shrug. It's time to go, Lady Le Roux and her shocking new spear have a hunger for adventure. I'll admit too, I wouldn't mind seeing more of this place. Even if it is more garbage heap than arena.

The stench sears my nose before my eyes even see it. At first I'm honestly eyeing up Softie to see if he has finally shit himself, but then I see it. Brown, bubbling, bile. The water, no, the literal flood of feces is about the most disgusting surface I've seen. But what bothers me even more, is how it makes me miss the ocean. It pisses me off as I prod the top of it with my hammer.

"This is just so wrong."

I start to say when a sudden splash sends some of the shit across my face. I am too busy trying to GAG, which I am not accustom to (take notes), that I don't even see the thing before it burrows lightly into my neck. I'm about to absolute wail on this little piece of- when Fridae's actual fists sends the thing right off my neck. I can't help but laugh as I shove the sewage off of my skin.

"Okay Fisticuffs Fridae, I see you. Thanks."

But my humor soon turns into movement as I raise the hammer high over my head. Fuck whack-a-mole, I'm playing whack-an-eel.

They glared back at the two glowing eyed bafoons that gave his surprise away, the two clowns who would. Not. Leave. Them. Alone. Ruined a meal, ruined it all. They were an apex predator, and two eels made them look stupid.

Anger seething through both sets of gritted teeth, they rushed forwards again for more.

All mouth and no action, he thought, as Goyle watched Crabbe fall lifeless to the ground. The hammer from the meal Goyle took a bite out of bounces on the ground next to him, shaking the surface of the lake just over the edge. His glowing eyes darted between the dark shapes moving around him and locked eyes on the one who dared lay fists on Goyle's body.

His mouth drooled its intentions over the ground as it moved towards them.

My fist connects so sweetly with the pale wart, and sends it flying across the mudbank. The momentum carries me through, and so I take a few heavy steps to slow myself down and stay upright. Adrenaline surges through me, and I'm now bouncing on my toes, staying agile, brass knuckled fists up and guarding my face. I'm back in the cage, and this time I'm going home a champion.

"Okay Fisticuffs Fridae, I see you. Thanks." Turner calls over as he collects himself and hauls his hammer up into both hands.

He swings the great warhammer with more grace and skill than I could, but despite his olympic form the weapon is just too slow for the rapid movements of the eel. It hits the earth forcefully, eruptions of dirt scatter all over the place - but the creature is unscathed.

Fuck's sake, I have to do everything myself.

I square up to the eel, staring it down as it writhes in the murky shallows. Come at me you little fucker - I dare you. It leaps, and I swing my arm - just a fraction too slow, and its teeth sink into my arm. Searing pain twists my face into a grimace. I try to grasp the leech to pull it out of my arm, but it's too slippery in my palm.

It stings like a motherfucker, and as I twist and turn on the spot, eventually my fingers wrap around the slimy body of the eel and rip it from my flesh. Blood hot down my arm and mouth agape panting, I glare at the pale worm and clench my aching right fists.

"Chew on this, asshole."

Interestingly, though your aim remains true, the mechanisms of the spear itself do not - the electricity fizzling out even as your spear point makes contact with the beast, slices alongside its sinewy body to the point that you nearly cut in in half. With a spear.

Okay, maybe some fried eel would have been nice, but you'll take some simply chopped any day. Death is death when it comes to the mutts, and you are sure as hell not picky.

It's Saylor that deals the finishing blow, sinking his own spear into the mutt's body, watching as its body convulses before going still. You eye the boy, see the terror in his eyes, recognize the steel in his bones. It's not easy to end a life, artificial or not, and to do that - even on something already half dead - takes guts.

"Not bad, Saylor," you acknowledge with a nod, before turning towards the other fight. You watch as Turner blindly strikes out at the second eel - and misses, and you can't help but chuckle a bit in the interim.

"Check your senses and then attack, Turner! Not the other way around!" There's a light teasing element in your voice - just some smack talking banter between allies, nothing new in your world. "Didn't they teach you fish folk back in Four how to smack an eel or two?"

If Turner acknowledges your words, you don't get to see it - the eel lunges again, latches itself onto Fridae this time, gets punched back to the ground by the girl from Nine, while the larger beast, the two-headed white abomination, leaves a large gash of its own across Saylor's arm.

That won't do.

"Hey, ugly!" you shout at the beast. "Why don't you pick on someone your own size instead of that skinny little twink there? I mean really, he's all skin and bones anyway!"

Never mind the fact that that skinny little twink has a higher kill count than you do currently - but you're not worried.

That's a problem easily solved.

My stomach's all somersaults, a cocktail of nausea and elation. "I did good?" A question without an answer, falling lazily from my lips as I stare at the life I'd just ended. It's far too tempting to search for my companion's gazes to find the barest trace of pride. "Yeah... I think I did."

I'm so wrapped up in myself, trying to figure out if I want to vomit or not, that I don't see it coming for me. Bigger than I've ever seen, all snapping jaws and glistening scales. It seems almost pristine in these wastelands, maybe beautiful if not for the beads of my blood strung along its skin.

I suck in a breath between my teeth, desperately fighting against a scream. It's inevitable as daybreak, but the moon still clings to dawn. It bubbles out of my throat but the sound comes out strangled, sounding more like a laugh than agony. Pain is such an intimate friend, but it's still difficult to greet her with a smile.

Silk's voice comes into focus not long after and I'm not sure if it's the adrenaline that makes her words so garbled. I pause, turning to her with a look of utter confusion - "What's a twink?"

Yesterday's wounds still haunt me, old aches set aflame. I can feel my body bending, desperate to give in.

But not yet.

This can't be the end for us - I won't let it be. We're stronger than a bunch of ugly tadpoles flopping in a muddy pond. Turner and Silk were bred for greatness, they carry themselves like kings and Fridae's always fought so fucking hard. Until she was more bruises than skin.

I don't think I believe in a god, but I still pray before I strike.

Here's the thing about arcade games, I've always been shit at them. So, thinking about this like whack-a-mole is my first mistake. My second is not accounting for the slight sting in my eyes from the bile splashed into them. Therefore, it's a surprise to literally no one that my hammer smacks nothing but sand. Yet the thing is, I'm not an easy little shit to deter so my dumbass tries a second time to flatten the fish. Only, here's the best part. Do I make even a single adjustment? No, of course not. So here I am with my hammer heaved into the mud busier fighting with the ground than the actual mutt.

All the mean while, as I'm practically playing with myself, Fisticuffs Fridae goes all in after the eel. I can't make this shit up. The image is literally me bent over trying to heave my hammer free while a teenage girl has a fist fight with a fish. If anyone told me a couple weeks ago that this is what I'd be doing now, I'd punch them in the gut and tell them to lay off the acid. Which, by the way for all the innocents out there, fist fighting a fish is usually the least of your problems. But anyway, here I am and there she goes.

Silk's shout snags my attention for a moment, but I roll my eyes quicker than I can reply. Yea, yea, yea I'm from the fishing district. Yea, yea, yea I am currently getting my ass kicked by an eel. She can shout at me all she wants. I was cracking chests open and saving Softie's ass in the bloodbath while she hit nothing but air. I give the hammer another rush of weight and finally pull it free from the muck. Only now do I match her smirk.

"Eels and ass actually. I guess I'm better at one than the other."

My words fade as I watch the others go back to fighting. My eyebrow raises next while I watch Softie. His spear skewers the eel and its blood turns the entire water around it an even darker brown. His reaction is more muffled than I expect, but still shocked. Poor guy, probably hasn't even killed a fly before. Hell, if he has he probably cried over its crushed tiny body and gave it an entire funeral. I send a hand directly between the other boy's shoulder blades in a kind of validating back pat. I'm about to say something when of all things, the topic turns to twinks. Well shit, it's not all that surprising when I've been one my whole life. What is surprising though, and makes me snort, is Saylor's complete lack of knowledge about the term. A devious smile slips across my face.

Swiftly I wrap an arm around his shoulders and pull him just close enough for a whisper.

"I'll teach you all about it tonight."

A light laugh leaves my lips as I let go of Softie boy Saylor and make my way towards where Silk has started fighting off the last mutt. Out of then all it's the ugliest. It's two heads are nothing short of a horror show gone wrong, but despite that it moves incredibly well in the water. I can change that real quickly by breaking its legs. My hammer rises as Silk's spear holds it in place.

"Keep it pinned, it seems like you're good at that."

I say to Silk with a smirk.

My hammer falls.

The crunch and the splash, that never got old to Draco, even though it was the first time they'd tasted the red of blood, not a distant memory that never was. The other eel, thank Ripred, fell lifeless to the ground. Finally, some peace from their incessant swishing of the lake around Draco. The second head swished, looking around for its first bite, to show it could SNAP- as good as the first one.

They were the king of this lake, and now the jokers were gone, they would show their power. Onwards they lept.

I smack the amphibian into the dirt. It rolls a couple of times, still twitching, before Saylor runs in and delivers a swift fatal blow, skewering the eel onto the end of his spear. It hangs off the end like a kebab, and all too suddenly I realise that there's our dinner.

Silk and Turner get to work on the huge two-headed alligator perched on the water's edge. It hisses and snaps at them with both heads, it's pale skin now etched with neon red cuts.

I catch my breath for a few moments, before patting Saylor on the shoulder.

"C'mon, let's help the others." I say firmly, half-jogging towards the shore.

I have my warhammer in my rucksack, some fifty yards from here, but it's cumbersome and too large for a girl my size. All I have is these knuckle dusters, which means I'm going to have to get up close and personal with that monstrosity.

I hop on my toes, staying light on my feet, mobile and ready to jump in. The Careers continue their onslaught, Turner getting a good whack in with his warhammer that causes the reptile to hiss aggressively in protest. I wait for my opening, bouncing on the spot, waiting, heart racing, mind focused.

Now.

I dart forwards whilst the two heads are occupied on Silk and Turner, and come at the mutt from the side-on, throwing my fists at anywhere that will hurt.

You can't help but snort, which probably isn't the best timing given that your spear strike merely cuts the beast instead of impales it. The electricity, on the other hand, makes up for lost time, as the jolts arc from the cut, zapping the beast to the point that the electricity is arcing off of it instead of your weapon.

It's almost as shocking as finding out that kids from Ten apparently don't grow up learning the same lingo that kids from One do.

Turner arrives, grabbing onto Saylor in a not-subtle fashion before turning around and smashing the beast's arm with his hammer. And it's amusing to see how quick he shifts from hedonistic flirt Turner into bloodthirsty Career Turner, so seamlessly are those two aspects of his woven into his very being.

"Maybe start with telling instead of showing first, eh, darling?" you say with your own not subtle sly smirk towards the boy from Four. "We don't want to traumatize the poor boy more than he already has been today."

Though, to be honest, it has been fun watching Saylor blush his way around Turner's love language, so perhaps this won't be something you lean in too heavily about.

The beast snaps its jaws - both sets of them - at you in your momentary lapse of judgement, but you weren't born yesterday - it's a simple matter to almost dance your way out of range of its teeth. Feeling bold, you even wag a finger at its snouts - "Nuhuhuh, not today boo," as if you were a mother scolding a cookie-craving child.

But this is still, after all, a mutt, and it must still die. So when Fridae rushes in, punching the beast right in its neck, your own shift from teasing, flirty Silk into battle-ready Silk is instantaneous.

"That's it, Fridae, just like that!" you shout words of encouragement, before pressing the button on your spear a third time, ready to shock this beast back into whatever hell it spawned from.

Only, strangely, the electricity never comes. Huh. Weird. You'll be sure to look into that after this fight is done.

Oh well. You never like relying on gimmicks anyway.
