Maybe Castor's bullet should have hit him.
Sin stands, gun loosely hanging in his hand at his side, the nuclear field is quiet again. The dogs lie at their feet, filled with bullet holes and somewhere a sun is setting, but not here. Here there's just smog and weak light trying to wander through it.
And a burning in his thigh.
When he looks down, there's a gash pulled through his skin, ragged and seeping through his hazmat suit. It's painful but Sin's known worse. The sharpness of it is different though as if the air itself is making it fester.
He reaches down, an afterthought, and pulls Castor's gun out of his hand. No one is truly safe with that left there. Then his fingers run absentminded through Castor's hair. He's still sat on the ground, every bit of wind taken from him. Sin squats down, rooting through his bag to find the supplies he picked up yesterday.
Castor is in rough shape, blood marking him all over in too many places. There's a stump where his finger used to be and Sin glances over his shoulder. Maybe if they find the digit, they can sew it back on before it's too late.
