life could be a lot worse, i guess.

but my parents always liked to say to only accept the best –

and so i've decided i no longer want to be a part of this frankly disappointing existence.

sunshine and gumdrops and lipgloss are the poetic garbles of life that deceived me for sixteen years into thinking that little tragedies were for character development and it was all worth it in the end.

life is totally and utterly futile.

life's a fucking rat race.

life leaves a little trail of serotonin crumbs towards death.

like there's my sister – Clementine was this perfect person. she always did everything she was supposed to do, everything that our parents made us do. she was smarter than me and prettier than me and older than me (i had funnier going for me) so i kind of hated her but also she was my best friend – you know how it is.

she spent so much time at the training center and never got reaped. so then she studied super hard to be a peacekeeper, packed her bags, and apparently i wasn't going to see her again for like twenty years as she sought an unattainable glory in far way districts.

well, i saw her again just a year later, skin waxy and bloodless, her body returned to be buried in district one.

life made Clementine its bitch.

we've all been here before. honestly, what is district one but rich kids that think it's okay to be a dick because they have mommy issues? or those emotionally constipated career meatheads? or edgelords that are so fucking edgy i'd probably get lacerated from standing too close to their emanating, brutal energy? the generational trauma is like a sickness.

and yea yea, whatever, i know it's such a first district problem – trying to die. Kids in twelve are probably starving or something.

but i'm tired of this.
